Heard snow was in the forecast for Valpo. Went to the webcam pointed at the new Union, yep, you got snow.

;D The Palmetto State may be hot and humid in the summertime, but you don't have to shovel it. Keep warm and drive safely.

3 inches? Try at least 8 when I shoveled at 7 a.m. today.

the 3 inches was a groggy estimate when i looked down from my third floor window. but yeah, it just keeps stacking up. which is fine with me.

yes it is. we're supposed to have 12-18 inches on campus by tomorrow morning. no class cancellations yet, but we're keeping our fingers crossed. it's a massive band of lake effect that is going to keep the snow coming for quite a while in the valpo area. edit: everything after 4pm today has been cancelled. hopefully they'll call classes for tomorrow before i go to bed tonight so that i can sleep late tomorrow.

2-3" an hour into this evening, 18" should be easy, go for 24!

over 20 inches on campus and we still have class. ugh. and it's still snowing here too. this has been the largest lake effect accumulation in almost 30 years.

The latest estimate on The Times web site is 26 inches, and I believe it. My son and I shoveled last night about 8:30, and then when I got up to shovel today I measured 12 inches of snow on the driveway. Since that time, we shoveled our driveway and three others near our neighborhood (made some good money for a 13-year-old). And don't believe when people tell you the Lake Effect snow is light and fluffy - when you have two feet of accumulation plus higher than that due to the drifting, it's heavy stuff. JJ, you're the smart one, living down there on an islad.
