Wow. Granny seems to have all the inside information. Info that isn't public knowledge. Illness, who is on the DL, who is serving sanctions. She appears to be close to the coach or maybe she is the coach!! Granny didn't share anything that wouldn't have been known by the parents or others that follow the team closely. One of the coaches? Nah, don't think so. The use of punctuation marks and overall writing style is very similar to old screen names of this forum and other softball forums I frequent. Close to the coach? Pretty good guess. You got me Valpodad. Posted only to shed a little light on availability of players & possible reasons for lineups. I try to be positive on our team & think we have a great group of young ladies. That said, probably would do me or team no good to debate with those that have ill feelings for coach Schneider. Therefore, I will just enjoy following the team & wish them a great season...GO Valpo SOFTBALL!

If you read old posts from Old VU fan 10 its pretty easy to figure out who it is mike. All you people are doing is making horrible memories for your kids. If you are going to be negative on here, then I'm sure their getting it when they talk to you. My kids will get nothing but positive from me. I want them to look back at their playing days and think "I gave it all i had, and my parents were there to support, me, my team, my coach and my school. If either one of your kids had her pic on the front page you wouldn't be here lerking. Its always so easy to blame the coach when our kids turn out under par, but he hasn't been the one on the bucket in all those developing years.

Wow! What a discussion. Let me say first that I'm no softball expert but am someone who checks the facts particularly after someone else say something specifically about a team, coach or player. I've now read that this team is playing the level it plays right now because we would be blown out by bigger conference teams. That Coach Schneider can't be very good because he is still at Valpo, and might as well throw in that the players aren't very good because if they were why would they choose Valpo? So I looked at some facts. First off, the level of player is as good as any team at Valpo talent wise. This is based on their high school records. Our roster includes (if I counted correctly) 11 first team all staters, a 2nd teamer and a 3rd teamer as well as the Wisconsin Player of the Year and a High School All American. Why did the pick Valpo? Most likely because of Coach Schneider, who by the way came to Valpo with a career record of 100-37. Why is he still here? Maybe he likes it and enjoys making his team a winner, who knows. As for not playing top teams, Valpo beat No. 23 Maryland as well as Purdue, among others. It just seems to me that everyone is jumping up and down over a team's performance that is just starting to gell. There is a big difference between practicing indoors and actually playing in the open air.

Therefore, I will just enjoy following the team & wish them a great season...GO Valpo SOFTBALL! I have no ill feelings for Coach. For the most part, he's a pretty good guy. In all honesty, my feelings toward him are very mixed. On one hand, he allowed Whitney to include softball as part of her college experience. Even though he never recruited her, he gave her a spot on the team and also gave her every opportunity to flourish as a college softball player, sometimes she succeeded, sometimes not. Overall, I have no problems with how he has used her during the past 4 years. It does make my heart sad that injuries will most likely limit her playing time during her senior year. But as I witnessed this past weekend, Whitney does everything in a big way and if being the team "cheerleader" is her new role, she'll be the best damn cheerleader on the team. On the other hand, I have been disappointed with how Coach has handled situations outside of the playing field. I have no intentions of going into detail about the things that have happened. I often think he has too much time on his hands and enjoys a little drama in his life to spice things up. So.... with all that said, the team will play better than they did this past weekend. It has nothing to do with youth, as some have stated. These young ladies know how to play ball, they'll figure it out. In my opinion, they are still looking for field leadership. Whitney was never an elite catcher. She was slow, didn't block balls as well as others and has an average arm. The thing she did best was command respect with her leadership. With a voice that can be heard for a mile, she directed her teammates with a confidence that made others on the field think she was actually a better player than she was. Jordan and Lisa are awesome kids and are both decent catchers. Unforunately, they are also both kinda soft spoken and I think their teammates need for them to take more of a leadership role on the field. But then again, what the heck do I know, I'm just a Dad in the bleachers.

Reading many of these posts, all I can think is - some of you really need to get a life. You've obviously got some issues. Good thing these blog things are anonymous because I bet you wouldn't have the guts to say these things to anyone's face.

Watchingyou: IMO you are FOS. Many of us are known by other posters and coaches. It is just the frustration of losing that gets many of us booing. We all love 'dear ole Valpo.' BOOK IT! Suggestion: Show your loyalty to VU sports by purchasing a piece of the floor. Hell, if every poster would contribute a few bucks, our goal will be met. I've done it, so how about you? I'll be watching!
