I think the athletic administration needs to do whatever possible, this week, to get out of that Youngstown game. Not only could the score be atrocious, but it could be dangerous to the Valpo players. Do the right thing, bite the bullet and say the program is in no shape to play an opponent of that magnitude, and re-schedule if for 4 years down the road. This is not a joke! I give Valpo a hard time about the state of their football program, but playing Youngstown State is asking for somebody to get seriously injured. I said as much on the Youngstown State post earlier this year, and I feel the same way today. I don't really care if the score is 86-7, what I do care about is the field becoming a MASH unit. Valpo's players aren't on the level of YSU in terms of size, speed and strength. I've seen both Youngstown State and Valpo this year, and if they play this game it's going to be the equivalent of a high school team playing a 6 grade Pop Warner team. I really, really hope there's some way to get out of this, and I hope the powers that be recognize the safety of the players is important. Let's hope this game never takes place...

Coach Norman Dale: If you put your effort and concentration into playing to your potential, to be the best that you can be, I don't care what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, in my book we're gonna be winners. On the other hand: Coach Norman Dale: [after history class] What's on your mind? Everett Flatch: Well, coach... what you're doin' with my dad (the schedule). I'm not seein' it. I mean, he's a drunk,[/i](bad) he'll do somethin' stupid... [/i] Coach Norman Dale: When's the last time anyone gave your father (Valpo) a chance? [/i] Everett Flatch: He (Valpo) don't deserve a chance! [/i]

i don't suppose that anybody would be dumb enough to buy the eternal optimism that we might surprise anybody in this game?

Send the party goers to Iraq or Afganistan. Hell, they can't legally drink here, but they can get shot there. Send the Valpo police too and let them harass the poppy growers. Give me a break! Party on!

The bottom section was interesting: Valparaiso man calls police and asks to be arrested VALPARAISO | A Valparaiso man called Valparaiso police Sunday afternoon and asked to be arrested, saying he drank alcohol, which is a violation of his probation. Police said they arrived at the man's home on Whittier Park Drive at 3:30 p.m., and he shouted, "Here I am. Take me to jail." Police said Joseph Geber, 57, tested positive for alcohol but not at a level that indicated intoxication. Police said they told him they would not be able to arrest him for public intoxication, at which time he became disorderly. Police then arrested him on a disorderly conduct charge. Sometimes you get what you ask for. He might have been under a death threat from someone else.

Party on! I am seriously beginning to worry about you jj. He's right though, it's crazy you can join the military and kill people, but can't legally have a drink. It does seem that you really can't party on or around campus anymore. It was bad 15 years, ago and doesn't appear to have gotten any better.
