A bit shocking don't you think? I'm pretty suren Evansvill elost an early game to a D2 or D3, not sure, but they are hardly the cream of the Valley. Where was the game played? The Butler faithfull will be out on a ledge after this one!!

I hate to see them lose from the standpoint of conference strength. This was not a good loss against the 10th ranked team in the MVC. We need them to get some wins against their tough schedule.
Topic from Butler Board. Seems they are beginning to doubt their coach and team just a little bit. Here is just one example.
Brad was terrible today I'm one of his biggest supporters, but I don't know what he was thinking today. The lineups never made sense, he didn't make any adjustments when they went on their second half run, and he kept Howard out way to long. Without a doubt, the worst job Brad has done coaching so far. Time to get a real lineup and rotation going Brad. This was a TERRIBLE loss the likes of which we haven't seen in years

Another good quote from BURph92 on the Butler board. good quote indeed. the poster has a very valid point, though i wonder if many of the butler posters will see it that way.

They miss Nored big time. The HL championship still runs through Indy. I do think they miss Hayward as well, but pundits still have egg on their face from last March underestimating Butler's capacity to defy the odds.

Were these the loons or the intelligent Butler fans? Is there any difference? I believe it was a mixture of both on both sides of the argument.

The Butler faithfull will be out on a ledge after this one!! Correct ... Evansville lost to DIII DePauw (my favorite college team) in an exhibition game on Oct. 30. DePauw caught them at a good time because they were able to start practice in early October for an Italy trip they took over Fall Break. Bad loss for Butler. Not having Nored hurt and they are still trying to figure out rotations, but still a very bad loss. They need to figure out things in a hurry or December could be a very difficult month.

I watched the game, and they didn't look like Butler. There were too many bad/hurried shots, and they are relying on Shelvin Mack way too much. There isn't nearly enough movement and it seemed like the offense was too easy to defend. The passing stank as far as getting people in position to be successful. The defense wasn't good either as they allowed people to get into the lane much too easily.
This is the second game I've seen them play, and so far I am not impressed. Andrew Smith is developing nicely, but he's still very spuratic in his play. One possession he looks good, and then next he's lost. He'll be a key if they're going to be good.
It just doesn't appear there's a consistant second option for scoring. Howard has been much better at being able to stay on the court, but when he's not playing they look lost if Mack can't score. My guess is that's a problem all year long.
In the end, I still think they win the Horizon League title, but it might not be the cakewalk that some expected.

Well, you might have thought it would be a cakewalk for Butler, but most saw the league as much tougher across the board and Butler having to fill big shoes with freshman. They are the favorite clearly, but undefeated? Not a chance.

Is Loyola a pretender? They haven't really beaten anyone good yet.

Agree with others that Nored was a key last year. Also, Hayward made a huge difference in so many ways beyond scoring. He had quick feet and a wingspan on defense that blocked a lot of passing lanes.
