From the Indy Star 12/17/10. I don't remember if this guy was mentioned already as having an offer from Valpo. www.indystar.com/article/20101217/SPORTS02/12170335/Butler-among-transfer-options-Carlino?odyssey=obinsite (scroll down about 1/3 of the page) Looks for Culver guard Jermaine Myers, a 6-1 junior guard from Culver Academies, claims offers from Drake, Northern Illinois, Northwestern and Valparaiso. The native of Toronto, said he is still very early in the recruiting process and has visited only Northwestern. Myers' teammate, 7-1 senior Chier Ajou, is committed to coach Steve Alford at New Mexico. Myers scored a game-high 23 points in a 58-57 triple-overtime loss to Brebeuf Jesuit on Saturday.

Also heard that Triton's Clay Yeo is close to an offer. Saw him at a local open gym last week and the kid can play. At 6'5", he ended the last game with a two hand dunk from outside the block.

Didn't know Culver had a decent basketball program. I thought it was only hockey and equestrian for Culver. Myers looks like a good recruit. Not so sure about the UCLA transfer.

In addition to Valparaiso, UIC, Ball State, Western Michigan and Dartmouth are all among the long line of schools now actively pursuing Bielfeldt.
Maybe Valpo can win that recruiting war with the teams' play so far this year and with hopefully better play towards the end of the year (70% or better team FT shooting would really help).
Of course Bielfeldt's choice of majors and if it fits into Dartmouth's programs and non-athletic scholarships will also play a big part.

He sounds like he'd be a nice fit to replace Cory's scholarship.

I think it is pretty obvious that I like this kid. Not super athletic or explosive, but knows how to use his body and has a high BB IQ from the vids that I have watched. As the interviewer says, he plays night after night against kids with high major scholarships and just goes out and destroys them.

Is it just me or does this kid's style and mannerisms on the court remind you of Cory Johnson? The way he finishes around the basket, sometimes looks out of control, and shoots the ball all seem like a clone of Cory. I'm not saying I think he is at the level necessarily, just that if you told me I was watching a video of Cory from his high school days, I would believe you.

Peoria Notre Dame tops Niles Notre Dame at Bradley University in Peoria. www.pjstar.com/preps/x1409894525/Peoria-wins-clash-of-Notre-DamesPEORIA — It took a while to come, but once it did, it changed the game. Scoreless through the first 20 minutes and his team in danger of losing its unbeaten record, Max Bielfeldt showed the matinee crowd at Renaissance Coliseum that he can play above the rim. After a slow first half in Monday’s second game of the River City Shootout, the Notre Dame boys basketball team was down by as many as 10 until a thunderous Bielfeldt dunk in the third quarter ignited a 13-point run by the Irish. That led to a 62-52 victory over Niles Notre Dame in the second of a five-game set at the 19th annual event, at Bradley University. With Notre Dame trailing Niles Notre Dame by one point in the middle of the third, Bielfeldt filled the lane on the break and took a dump pass from Brett Lane. The 6-foot-8 senior elevated and hammered home a right-handed slam that gave the Irish a 39-38 lead. “I’m not much of a high-flying dunker,” Bielfeldt said. “But when I do get one, it does seem to get us going.” Bielfeldt’s first basket sparked the decisive run and improved the top-ranked Irish to 17-0. The Dons, led by 21 points from 6-5 senior Quinton Chievous, fell to 16-3. Bielfeldt finished with 15 points and 15 rebounds for the Irish, who also had 14 points from David Molinari.

A few years ago, before we entered the Horizon League, a player with offers from Ball St, WMU and UIC might not have given VU much thought. Now that we're in the Horizon, and the MAC has gone down some, I'd say we have a good shot at this recruit. Hopefully, he'll see the advantage of coming in behind Cory, especially the possibility of playing time.

Max Bielfeldt took unofficial visit to Valpo Sunday according to chicagohoops.com. He also took an unofficial visit to Illinois Saturday for the Ohio State game. Perhaps the opportunity for more immediate playing time and a scholarship offer will help him decide and choose Valpo. One can hope.... chicagohoops.hoops247.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=79
