If we beat Butler in two weeks, I fully expect our students to come on the court as well. Any student section "leaders" should do anything in their power to prevent this from happening. Storming the court is such a tired tradition. It will be especially stupid if we are in first place when we play them. If that's the case we should have expected to beat them, that's not 'storm the court' worthy.

You are entitled to your opinion, but it has been quite some time since the student body did that and since we beat Butler. Like I said, I would expect it to happen.

How about we keep the horse in front of the cart and beat Butler first before we worry about storming the court. From what I hear Valpo staff will not allow it anyway.

I have always hated storming the court, but I have especially hated storming the court ever since I saw the Illinois student section storm the court after they beat Michigan State last year. This is a perennially good team that was 5 years removed from playing for a national championship beating a conference opponent at home, have a little respect for yourselves.

Unless we win it with a Buzzer Beater I will try to discourage rushing the court...some guys around me asked if we should take to the hardwood after beating Cleveland St, to which I said "save it for Butler." We'll play it by ear. 56 is right though, if we are still in 1st, then it should be simply takin' care of business.

Actually, this weekend was the first basketball game that our students have been in school. It was great to have 2,000 students into the game and want to get involved. They will be in class on Tuesday talking about the game and how much fun they had and hopefully it will snowball and more will come out to the next game. All most of them know is that Butler played for the National Championship last March and came close to winning it all. They were in to this game and just wanted to celebrate with our players. Nothing wrong in that.

Although I understand and appreciate that Wright State stormed the court, there should be certain rules to it:
1. Winning the conference championship at home to go to the Dance -- ok.
2. Beating a top 10 team on your home court (as long as you're not in the top 25 or in the same conference, lone exception if that team is #1 and undefeated) -- ok.
I am generally against the court rush when you are playing in conference because you play that team 2x a year (maybe 3) and eventually you will beat them. The psychological point is why make them think the win is that big a deal. Act like you been there before was a slogan that rings in my head. This doesn't mean you don't celebrate in the aisles and stands, or roll the quad/tundra or even burn some couches on Mound Street. It has become too commonplace, but I won't lose sleep or believe that the youth of America have become content to celebrate minimally ok achievements. And, if we are still in first, then a win against Butler, although a long time in coming and a good achievement is not instinctively court rushing worthy, although if it's a buzzer beater dispensation could be granted.
I almost would rather we rush the court next Sunday after sweeping The Cheese Tour Schools to set up the Butler game. Those games first Friday and then Sunday are more important right now than any other game. Win those and you are 8-1 and then that Butler game can have all the attention you want and it deserves. In fact, we should not even mention Butler on this board until and only after that sweep.

I have a different take: the problem with storming the court is that people can get hurt. It's happened several times last year, if I'm not mistaken.

I just finally finished watching this game thanks to a self-imposed blackout (I was on the road during the Valpo game and forgot to check to see if the game was on FCS, which it was, so I had to wait for the HLN archive to come up).
I threw major props to Duggins earlier. Evans deserves equal props. Those two are excellent.
Bob Grote sounds a lot like Doug Buffone, and if you can believe it, Buffone is more articulate.
First place all to ourselves, baby! Wow. This is the time to take the bull by the horns and thrive on this. Let's see if they can rise to the standard they've set for themselves.
