After losing 3 of our last 4 conf. games over teams that we were favored to beat and hearing that the players are basically gassed tells me that we have no chance in a tournament where we would have to win 4 games over 8 days on someone else's court and against rested teams in the semi-finals and finals. We may beat YSU on Tues at home, but it would not surprise me at all if we don't. Even if we do, I would be VERY surprised if we were to get past the Detroit/Loyola winner on Fri. in Milw. So, my prediction is we win 1 game and get beat by double digits on Friday. Does anyone else care to venture a guess (and hopefully explain your reasoning)? I've got to say I think they'll beat YSU, but not by much, then in much the same way the season ended, lose to a team they are supposed to beat.
This year was clearly an improvement over the last couple, but also a disappointment in terms of what could have been accomplished.
Oh, and I think Butler wins the tournament...

I just created a HL prediction poll in the HL board.

I picked the semis. I think they win at home, and then one in Milwaukee. Granted I don't know what team I am picturing when I make my pick.

This team has the talent to hang with any team in the league. Unfortunately, we've also shown a recent trend of losing games we were supposed to win. It's like Milwaukee and Valpo switched seasons after the rout at the ARC.
I could see Valpo losing to YSU. Or I could see them winning it all. It's just one game at a time now.

Think of it this way: We don't have to play Green Bay! We have beaten everyone, including sizable wins over YSU and Milwaukee. I think we could go all the way to the championship game, and if so, I'm really hoping someone knocks off Butler so we would probably being playing an equally tired CSU team, albeit at Cleveland. Obviously, it depends on the guys and how well they hold up to the wear and tear. I think we need Mike as he really adds toughness on the boards, a outside shot and good defense. Without him we go back to an 8 man rotation or throw Cam into the mix and apparently he is banged up as well. We must remember that at this stage everyone is banged up. Here is what I'm hoping for, and feel there is a reasonable chance of happening: We beat YSU, CSU beats UIC, Loyola beats Detroit, and WSU beats Green Bay. Then, we beat Loyola, CSU beats WSU and then CSU beats Butler on the neutral court and we beat a Milwaukee team who we match up very well against. Then its on to Cleveland and an uncertain matchup which I think we will lose. So there you have it. I'm picking CSU to beat us in the title game. Don't bet the ranch on it.

I think Valpo beats Youngstown State on Tuesday, but by less than 5 points.
Detroit is one of the two giant wild cards in this tournament (the other is now Valpo). Detroit has boatloads of talent and size, but has such poor team play that they could certainly lose to Loyola. While I do predict Detroit beating Loyola, I think Valpo wins the semifinal against either of them.
Valpo will then lose to Milwaukee in a very tight game. The difference will be Milwaukee being at home and well rested. Butler beats Green Bay who is fresh off an upset of Cleveland State. Butler then beats Milwaukee in Milwaukee for the conference championship.

I do like the fact that CSU, Butler, Wright and Green are in the other half of the bracket...I'm concerned about Tuesday... and remember the Detroit game last year...
so I will not think ahead to the 7:30pm game at the CELL on Friday night... nope, not gonna do it... I'm NOT going to googlemap directions and I'm not going to consider taking the afternoon off to drive up I-94... until tuesday night.

i think that we beat up on ysu and outplay detroit but win by a couple before losing to milwaukee by a handful (maybe 6 or 7). csu ultimately wins it all by their brutish play.

Milwaukee, hosting the conference tournament, is 7-1 in four years as hosts (2003-06). Average victory was by 9.125 points per game.
Were you there a couple weeks ago and thought the crowd was raucous, wait until Saturday!
This is the Horizon League Tournament, baby!

If Loyola beats Detroit we could get to the final. If Detroit beats Loyola, we lose in tournd two. Something about that Detroit team scares me.

I'd be scared of Detroit, too, if I was a Detroit fan.

With a little momentum, Detroit, Wright St. and Green Bay could all become spoilers. I think 11 conference wins in a row will prove difficult for Milwaukee. Hopefully, VU can play well and earn the trip to the NCAA's!!

Has anyone heard anything on Mike Roger's condition? He looked to be in quite a bit of pain after he came out of the game and during his postgame speech. However, I saw him later that night at Passtimes (a local Valpo bar) and he seemed to be moving ok. Just curious if anyone had heard any updates.

My gut is telling me we will be lose to Detroit in the 2nd round You wanna know what else sucks. Butler lost 5 conference games but they still get the semi-final bye...
