I agree. I've been around a long time and I've seen alot of basketball all across the country, and I'd have to say she's one of the best bigs I've seen play the game. She's got it all.

I believe the system does not work because we haven't had all the right players we need to make it work. It's hard to run any system, regardless of where, if your ball handlers are turning the ball over 22-27 times a game. You can't settle into any system offensively if you aren't controlling the ball. Your point possition has to be able to handle preasure, see the floor exceptionally well, and get the ball to the scorers in a split second. That hasn't been happening. By the same token, you have to have the ability to block out and pull down boards to not only give yourself second chance attempts on offense, but also to keep your apponent from second chance attempts on defense. That hasn't been happening either. Better performance in just these 2 areas and we're a 500 team in my opinion. success breeds success. I know Freeman doesn't have a history of playing freshman many minutes, but again, I think he's getting tired of losing too. It won't take long to figure out these freshmen can step in make an emmediate impact. With the players currently rostered, I feel we can start to turn things around and get back on track. And I too, hope you are wrong. The natural question is who recruited these players who can't play in this system? Either recruiting mistakes or little development, either way points to the coach.

Whoa there pilgrim...first off do not build up unreasonable expectations before she is even out of high school. Secondly your comment is simply waaaaaaaay overstated. Ladd is an extemely good player who should be very good for us. She should be Miss Basketball but Evansville players never win this award. Maybe this year.. Watching her last wekend she was easily the best player at the state finals. The 3A and 4A games were as badly played as I have seen at the state finals in years. Both were nearly impossible to watch.

Improving on a 7 - 23 season isn't an unreasonable expectation, regardless of who you are bringing in.
I've had the opportunity to watch Ladd play quite a few times over the past 4 years, and she has always been the best player on the floor, period. I've actually heard those same comments by some officials I've spoken to, who had no idea I was familiar with her play. her rebounding ability is something we've not had here before. Ladd has the ability to be a game breaker, but I'm not just talking about Ladd. Carr, the point guard from Heights is a great addition as well. She broke almost every record at her school, set new county records, and finished somewhere around 5th in the state in assist, not to mention she averages 16+ points a game, and shoots somewhere around 85% from the stripe. She's not the most athletic PG I've watched over the years, but I will say she's one of the most intellegent. I've done a little homework on these young ladies as I too, have been disappointed in our progress over the past few seasons. I had the opportunity to watch these two play together for the first time at an all star event last season and was very impressed with their chemistry, which is something else we've lacked for a time now. Granted, this will be a different system for both, but they are very adaptable players and should be able to join in and help out early on, IMO. Certainly, a lot of this will depend on how the coaches chose to utilize, or not utilize them, their Freshman year. Let's not forget that we still have a lot of talent coming back next season, and the incoming class will more then compliment this group. Another 7 - 23 seaason isn't acceptable, and I truly believe, if the coaching staff uses all of these players to their potential, we'll see good things in the future.

Someone said Coach Freeman doesn't like to play freshmen much, but look at Tabitha this year--second in minutes to only Betsy! She made some freshman mistakes, of course, but being named to the HL All-Newcomer Team points to her worth for the Crusaders. So don't you think it depends more on ability to handle the position than on class year?

So don't you think it depends more on ability to handle the position than on class year? I'm pretty sure that's the point people are trying to make. Sometimes, it seems that KF is not playing someone simply because they are a freshman, even if they are the best player at their position. One could argue, given some of the past playing time decisions for freshmen, that Tab played a lot of minutes in spite of being a freshman. I hope the kids coming next year are as good as advertised, and I hope they get a chance to show it. They likely can't afford another bad season...

It looks like Freeman's recruiting was validated today. 2 of our incoming freshman, Ladd and Carr, were 2 of the 14 players selected to go head to head with Kentucky's best this June for 2 All Star contest. I wish them well, and can't wait to see them join our fold. www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011103250342
