Agree with VU72. Stop ragging on Johnson. As was said on another thread, he has played gutsy all year against bigs esp. centers and racked up fouls doing it. If he played the "2" he would have scored even more points because he would not have expended so much energy and fouls playing defense. Great player. He ranks high in my book even among VU's Top 25 even tho he only played 2 years. LOL. Come on. Johnson had a great junior year but this year he totally underachieved. We on this board and others were talking about how he was better than Matt Howard at the beginning of the year, but after this season I'd take a handful of guys before I consider him. Give me junior-year Cory and thing might have been different for us. He rushed everything he did this year.

Wow, sour grapes there buddy, seriously sour grapes. I could care less as to what your "college basketball knowledge is" but you show no sportsmanship at all as judged by your comments. Knock the school, city, fan base, program, pep band or whatever else you want. At the end of the day UWM won and continues their season until at least Tuesday. What's there to be said about Valpo's season? I can't say that there's a huge number of people who were aware of Valpo's D1 program either because I don't recall many of their past successes. Again, it has nothing to do with being sour. I posted it before both the last two games, and also afterwards. Win or lose I would have said the same exact thing, and if you were Cleveland St. I also would have said the same thing. Also, get lost. Bitching about our fans on our board isn't showing sportsmanship either, let alone your own boards. I made a factual statement about your fans and attendance and you guys act like we were calling your player's mothers' "bitches". For anyone else, here's the pick by Rodgers: www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1d3V7eVFTY

I basically agree with you (don't know about the specific critique, but in general, yes), although Matt Howard stepped up his game big-time this year from previous years. That said, I never thought Cory was as good as Matt. I have said that Cory was a weak spot in our lineup down the stretch. What I won't agree with is saying that he's been worthless this year.

Seriously, somebody get this a3uge kid off the drugs.
Let me ask you this, moron. Yeah, I called you moron, and this is why. You say that you would have slammed our city, school, students, alumni, and all that had you won. Are you joking?
Because this is what I know. If you would have done that, you would be the new King Douchebag on all Horizon League forums. I read them all, and that would make 'willisbrown' on the Butler board seem like an affable fellow.
The fact of the matter is you are bitter, whether you want to admit it or not. Your fellow Valpo fans, who may not feel the officiating was good on Saturday, have stayed away from acting like a*******. You know why? Because they're not, and you are. We have been welcome here ever since VU joined the conference, and we have had amicable relations because the vast majority of us (as in Milwaukee and Valpo fans on the boards) are kind people. Take a note from your fellow Crusaders and stop being a dick.
Being a Valpo student, I assume that you were nowhere near Brandon Wood's mother, and thus have no basis to argue in her defense. Because she's a player's mother, she is exempt from acting her age? I was not there, but the people that were around the action, who I talked to minutes afterwards (including a Valpo fan friend of mine), made mention of her losing it.
But you know what? Who cares. Her son lost in his last bid to go dancing (if the rumors we hear about him foregoing his senior year are true). Like many people who are deeply, emotionally invested in the outcome, she let her words get away from her. It's all right, no one is perfect.
And the same should be said for the student section at the game. On a youtube replay, we all can see it was a clean pick. But I can tell you that I was in the overwhelming minority who thought it was a clean pick at the time. And at the time, from the viewing angle of the students, who were all hopped up on emotion, they thought it was a cheap shot. We know this is not true, but in the heat of the moment, anyone can make a mistake. Isn't that what you guys have been arguing about the refs since the game ended?
I hope you guys get into the NIT, but failing that let's see you take one of the other two tournaments and win the damn thing.
If anyone sees Cory Johnson around campus, tell him he's a great guy; he acted like a good sport when he fouled out. Even the cheeky wave to the student section was funny. I will be sorry to not see him on the sidelines next season.

Cory Johnson had a great year, and career for us...the thing some forget is that the other coaches in the conference can coach too...and they figured out the second half of the season that our biggest weakness was inside, so they took it too us. Unfortunately, we couldn't do much about it. Cory tried, but being undersized for a center, he got called for a lot of fouls. Kevin played super the end of the season, but his minutes are limited because of his back problems.....Hey, let's forget all this vitirol and congraulate Milwaukee on a great season. We had our shot and came up short, they won 9 in a row to end the season, congratulate them for taking advantage of the chances they had.

First things first, the YouTube video was directed toward "anyone", and wasn't involved in an argument in any way. I just thought I'd share it since people were talking about it. Secondly, I have only made one personal attack. This was to the guy who thought the officiating was "very good". To that guy: I'm sorry if 'idiot' offended you. You, on the other hand, just said I was on drugs and called me a moron, dick, and a**hole on a message board specifically for Valpo fans. I do not believe I have stated anything that wasn't factual. I actually have a picture of the UWM pep band and counted 23 heads (there could be some hiding) which was probably the most refutable argument I made. I stand by my argument that the UWM fans at the game were limited compared to the size of the school (covered seats) and quiet given the time and situation of the season. Since it's been 24-hours since the game, and I've obviously calmed down, I went over and re-read my initial comments. Other than a couple harsh rebuttals about the "sober campus" chant, I didn't say anything overtly offensive. Honestly, if I saw something offensive about Valpo on a message board for fans of an opposing team, I wouldn't be too offended by what they said following a game with a large foul discrepancy. With that being said, I still don't feel I said anything that should warrant such an uprising anyways. Finally, I don't think it's ever appropriate to call someone a bitch in a public setting (internet message board). All in all, you are no better than the intimidater if you retaliate a person's words with more harsh words. Edit: And I do congratulate the Milwaukee team for making it this far.

I think this is the most ridiculous discussion I have seen on this board recently. Matt Howard and Cory Johnson are both natural 4 position players. Matt Howard as a 5 must of had a horrible season last year. Statistically he stunk as compare to the previous campaign. Teams had learned how to play him as a 5 just as they did with Cory. Now that Matt is playing the majority of his minutes at a more agreeable position he is flourishing. Cory Johnson at the 5 was the best we could do given Kevin's back, Cameron's injury setbacks and Hrvoje's current skill level. Yes, at times he forced the issue, fouled and generally seemed out of place because in reality he was IN THE WRONG POSITION and teams learned how to exploit him in certain situations. Cory is one heck of a player who gutted out performances when injured and over matched by size. Yes, there were times this season I found myself yelling at the screen and asking "Cory why?", but then I really knew the reason. For anyone on this board to question Cory Johnson's worth to this team is absolutely asinine. One last thought, if you don't think that Cory could have put up Howard type numbers this year if he had played the majority of his minutes at the 4 then I seriously have doubts about your basketball acumen.

Matt Kenney is not very good at basketball. I have no idea why he gets the minutes that he does. He's not working out. I was sitting in the cell both Friday and Saturday night asking myself the same. He's terrible.
