Northern Colorado wins their conference tournament. They move to 98th in the RPI. That makes us 4-4 against top 50 and 2-2 against 50-100. I think we will be a 5 or 6 seed in the NIT.

I think Valpo and CSU are in. Does this mean we have FOUR teams in the NCAA and NIT? That would be a first, if I'm not mistaken.

According to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horizon_League_Men%27s_Basketball_Tournamentyou have to go back to MCC (specifically Midwestern Collegiate Conference) days. In 1990 Dayton got the NCAA autobid. Xavier rode their regular season championship to a #6 seed as an at-large, which they took to the Sweet 16. Marquette and St. Louis went to the NIT, where St. Louis went to the finals. Loyola, Detroit, and Butler are the only teams left from that era.

rpiforecast.com had Oakland as a 48 as of last night. RealtimeRPI.com has them at a 52. So I guess it depends on which RPI you use, I am guessing they are all just a little bit different.

Realtimerpi, Collegerpi.com, warrennolan.com all give *actual* RPI as of this moment. Mind you, I haven't visited that website, so I'm just spitballing, but the website name seems like a dead giveaway.

As of today, VU has played 4 games against NCAA qualifiers - Northern CO, Butler (2) and Oakland. I'm sure Kansas and Purdue will get into the field. Right now, both CSU and Missouri St. have borderline RPI's that might get one or both into the field, depending on other confernence tournament outcomes. Based on our record versus these teams, I like our chances in the NIT.

If Missouri State got left out a few years ago with an RPI in the 30s, I don't see CSU getting invited with an RPI in the 40s.

No way CSU gets an NCAA bid. They choked down the stretch..losing to Milwaukee at home. The table was set for them to get #1 seed and host the tourney

Well, it is an "invitational" tournament. Nothing says they have to decide based on rpi. For example, we have wins over the following teams that either won their respective conference regular season titles or won tournaments to get into the NCAAs: Northern Colorado, Missouri State, Butler, Milwaukee and Oakland, with a shot at the MAC champion.
How many does CSU have? One? How about Milwaukee? One? Just curious.

UAB losing today unfortunately likely sends Valpo to the CBI.

Not true...If Marshall or Memphis or even UTEP win C-USA it doesn't change anything. They just flip-flop with UAB from the NCAA to the NIT.

It's amazing how many no.1 seeds from one-bid conferences are losing their conf. tournaments. It's resulting in several weaker than normal entries in the NCAA tournament and resulting in NIT slots being given to teams that would never get there on their own merit. Whatever slim chance we ever had for an NIT bid is completely out the window now.

wow...10 autobids handed out and counting... not looking good, considering it's a 32-team field.
