I was not aware of this, but work will begin soon (or maybe it already has begun) on a new softball stadium. It will be completed by November. This is further evidence, to me anyway, that the new administration is committed to athletics at VU. Coming soon, I hope, will be a new track, followed by a remodeled ARC, and then, hopefully in the not-too-distant future, a Fieldhouse. Paul

Very interesting. Exactly what do you expect in a new "stadium"? The softball field I saw had bleachers etc. Do you envision a brick facility complete with washrooms and concession stand? How about "club" seating!!!!

I have a feeling that having real bleachers and some amenities at the softball field will give it that "stadium" look that you see if you watched SEC or Big 10 softball at all. We probably won't have an elevated seating "bowl" with a concourse, but it will at least give that feel that looks more like a college softball setting, and not a local youth softball program with a set of temporary bleachers on each side, and then many fans and parents standing up or sitting in lawn chairs?

Drove by today to see the work in progress. Unfortunately--no work, no progress.

this is exciting, though i'm a little concerned about how that's going to affect an already popular parking lot. especially on days when there are extra activities/conferences/meetings, etc. in the union.

There must not be sewer lines close, because the field has water. To water the field, they plug into a spigot that is under a cover behind home plate - less than 20 to 30 feet from where it sounds the new stands will be located. If I'm not mistaken, I believe there are also water hookups at the end of each dugout. IMO, completely ridiculous to not include bathrooms.

I think it's great they are improving the facility, but no water and toilets...that's just plain dumb.

Have they broke ground on new stadium additions? Anything on new coach?

I don't think its going as good as they had hoped. Multiple prospects interviewed, a couple of offers, but..... nobody has accepted yet. Rachel has had the team doing some workouts, not sure if they are going to play a fall schedule. I'm curious, do you have new info or is it just a coincidence that you post this on the same day Jen called a team meeting?
