Even when I was in school and many football players were on scholarship, people dropped off the team. I was one of them. You get to Valpo and realize that your glory days were one thing but finding out that the guys are bigger, faster and stronger are quite another.
Secondly, you realize that the academic requirements are a lot harder than high school so you decide that you can ride the pines, get the crap beat out of you in practice and have less time to study, or, having come to your senses regarding your actual talents, recognize the need to focus more time on studies and a future outside of football.
