Instead of a General Sports board, would you rather this be an Off-Topic board?

we could do that too... if there is enough interest, we could just add a board for OT

I am sure it would not be a hot place to post but at least it could be a place to post valpo related topics that aren'ts sports related.

For an added OT board only if you get a good moderator...things can go to hell all too quicky...

Let's go with an off-topic and a general sports section. As long as we can keep the profanity under control to keep it family friendly, there should be a place where folks can go to discuss other issues. I would moderate it if you need someone but only if there are specific criteria as to what is and what is not acceptable. I'm in favor of almost any kind of speech except obvious racism, profanity, and crude name-calling. It's not always easy to filter through what is and is not acceptable but there really could be some interesting off-topic discussions. Rules and good judgment should keep it civil. Also I think warnings should be given where some people go over the deep end in the eyes of most involved. On the other hand, I don't agree with willy-nilly banning just because someone doesn't like the content of another's post, i.e., political or religious, or whatever. It can be a place to have fun, learn, and make some friends while also a place to vent or have heated debates which sometimes shed more light than heat on various topics. I believe this can be done among the adult community here and kept from becoming a Yahoo, adolescent romper room. Keep it civil but don't be afraid of discussing any topic of interest. And no one has to read any of it if they so choose. But there does need to be a trash inspector. Somebody's gotta do it. This should be minimized with the fact that we have passwords and most folks will be already known.

I will definitely post a copy of the Terms of Service from Proboards that covers all those "content" concerns, Rick.
I am still going to wait to create this until I get more responses and I can moderate it for a while, and see how it goes. If needed, we can add more moderators at a later time.

Can you put people on probation? The Chicago Bears board bans/suspends people for a few days or so depending on the situation as kind of a harder slap on the wrist but not a total banning.
Hopefully everyone can keep the profanity and personal attacks under control.
