I have noticed that posters do not like posting off topic stuff on the Off Topic board because it doesn't get much traffic. I propose deleting some boards and condensing the forum to one or two and labeling your post "OT" if it doesn't pertain to Valpo sports. The reason I separated to begin with was to make sure that posts on Valpo sports stayed on the front pages longer and relevant posts were not buried by "OT" stuff. So please vote and add your opinions. Thanks!

My thought is having the separate boards for different topics, be they "on" and "off" topic are ok as is. Maybe positioning some of the boards differently would help within the main page? Right now, "Off" topic is down at the bottom and off the main screen, and perhaps people just don't scroll down to see it regularly, or at all?

Since Rick has been banned, I don't think there needs to be an off topic category.

I like the message board as it is, but I think the Off-Topic section could be up above a little bit. I think in some ways too that many of us may not be posting on other off-topic subjects like Rick did because we'd just be re-stating what we heard on any number of the news networks and blogs because we don't really have a chance to form our own opinion on the topic of politics because the media seems to only want us to see one side of the story. I guess if there is a thread setting that could go, it might be the Questions for the AD, since we've had quite a few questions go unanswered based on the particular need to know.

I agree with valporun on these points. I woudn't want to get rid of the off-topic just yet as this is our first year in the HL and I think when the season starts there will be more activity than in the Mid-Con days. I do think that my failure to check the off-topic board is somewhat related to its basement position.

I never said I didn't post on any of the other boards, just that there isn't much activity on any of the others since Rick has been banned. If you were to dig up a list under his name, it would be a lot longer than what you turned up on me.

I agree with that. Rick posted lots of conservative think tank propaganda hoping we all would convert to his side of the thinking spectrum. I, for one, was tired of it and was glad to see him go. He gloated way too much for one person to handle.

From the article: That is my point with the seperate boards. The less often posts get started there, the less interest it draws. If they can get used a bit more, then it will be more interesting. But, that's the case that no one responds to any of the other topics. The Super Bowl, the NCAA tourney, and even the scandal at Oral Roberts drew very little discussion. Those linked posts above were just some of the "Off Topic" items that were instead placed in "Valpo Basketball." Since the boards have been seperated out as they are now, at least Rick knew enough to put off topic items in "Off Topic."

I like the off-topic board. It just needs to be used more.

Well, that is interesting. This forum goes from sharing and reporting news to making news. Still, this thread should not be in the Valpo Basketball topic.

Alright, I have already moved the Off Topic boards up on the main page. Maybe now they will be more visible and posters will be more inclined to post there. I am going to close this poll and move this topic to the Off Topic board.
