Has Valparaiso planned an official stance on the Mid-Con after our departure? It had been stipulated that part of the reason we hadn't moved from the conference in the past was at least in part to our "loyalty" to the conference. In addition, our departure will certainly weaken what is already a somewhat shaky assemblage and could, in the worst case, cause the demise of the conference. Will there be a concerted effort to maintain rivalries with ORU and others through continued scheduled games?

We have always enjoyed the competition in the Mid-Con and have enjoyed the rivalries that have developed over the years. Geography will play the biggest part in how we continue with these rivalries. We have already spoken with Western Illinois and intend to continue playing them in most sports. We would also like to continue playing IUPUI and Oakland. Beyond that things get more difficult due to distances. I can see us playing ORU on occasion.
As I indicated in the article in last week's Times, we have not moved in the past because we had not been asked. Given the formal opportunity we did what was best for our student-athletes. The Mid-Con has a number of very good options for new members if they choose to exercise them. A number of those options will create a Mid-Con that will continue to thrive.
