As one of the message board members who doesn't live in Valpo, I was out of town last weekend, and when driving home last Sunday afternoon, decided to detour thru Valpo to take a look at the new union and Brown Field renovations. Both projects are very nicely done, for sure major upgrades or improvements for VU. Once Brown Field's FITT project upgrade is 100% completed with lights and a track, it should help with FB recruiting, and I'm sure with track & field recruiting as well. At least it gets (or will get) us more on a level playing field in terms of facilities with our PFL competition in FB, and with Horizon League competition in track & field. I'm wondering if anyone knows, are restrooms at Brown Field part of the FITT project renovation? I know from occasionally reading the PFL fan board, other PFL schools fans who have traveled to games at VU have mentioned the lack of nearby facilities more than once. Kudo's to those alums and friends of VU who donated to the union project and FITT project. When you have a chance to see the additions and changes, take the opportunity. I think you'll be pleased.

I plan on making it up sometime this year, and am looking forward to all of the changes made on campus since I graduated in 2004

I noticed that they put what appears to be soccer lines down on the field. When is soccer moving from Eastgate?

They will not be playing there regularly. However, if there is a lot of rain and Eastgate is not playable, they will utilize the new turf surface for games/practice. I was told personally by the soccer coach that he and the team enjoy playing on their own field over at Eastgate and that the surface is at least adequate. Last year there was a weekend when we got hammered by rain and the team had to play their game at a high school field that had field turf. That situation won't occur again.

Until now some of the area high school facilities where much better than what VU had. I hear Crown Point has a new football field with the new turf something like VU's new turf.
