When I attended the first VB game, this year, I was shocked that the ticket price went up to $7. I was told that you had to match the other HL schools prices. Recently I was looking for VU @butler BB tickets, on Butler's website and just happened to see that they charge only $5 for VB. So I looked at prices at all HL members & found that only ONE school charges $7, one is $6, and the rest are $5. One even charges $3 for seniors. In light of that, I wonder why VU's ticket prices increased 130%?

I ask the same question when I see the price of gas! Why do I pay this much. Yet, maybe Valpo V-ball is the best show in town? Just curious. When I pay a lot of money for a show - I expect a good one - maybe thats what we are getting everytime we watch Valpo play. Just trying to shed some light - not trying to argue your concern.

You missed the point. I was told that the reason that VB ticket prices went up 130% was "we are in the HL & have to bring our prices up to those of the rest of the teams? The fact is that all but one is below the new price.

During the summer we looked at the ticket prices for all of our sports. We set out to accomplish three things with this review. Increase attendance, increase revenue, and simplify the pricing. The prices at other Horizon League schools were not the deciding factor on our prices. We settled on a pricing structure that has all tickets, except Men's Basketball reserved seats priced at $7. Volleyball, Football, and Women's Basketball are all $7 with children 10 and under free. This seemed like a fair price in our market given the quality of our programs and the level of competition. There are a number of promotions over the course of each season that make individual games even more affordable. Ticket sales is one of only three revenue sources available to Athletics that we can influence (fund raising and corporate sponsorships being the other two). As we strive to improve our programs increases in ticket revenue are important. At the same time we want as many people as possible to be able to come and enjoy the games.
