An outside company for sure, but don't recall the name

I think in recent years McShane Construction has done work on different capital projects at Valpo. I'm not sure what contractor is the design build company or project manager and involved in the Brown Field FITT renovation, but, if I were guessing, it might be them again?

Does anyone have any idea what the target date is for installation of the new track? Next year? 2010? I would guess the athletic dept has some sort of idea when the new track might happen. Paul

It depends on FITT fundraising, and whenever the donations are secured for that portion of the FITT project.

I really think priority should have been given to the track. An outdoor track would benefit many more students than improved seating or a video scoreboard at Brown Field.

Agreed. I would think this track has to be the #1 priority for the VU athletic dept. I'm sure the cost has gone up considerably due to the recent surge in oil prices, but...this needs to get done, and soon. Paul

THey could not have installed the track without first doing the football field. The new wiring for the scoreboard, and the equipment that is moving in and out of the site would have damaged the track or required digging under it.

Why doesn't Valpo booster club have fun raising events , drives in major cities , membership drives through the various sports , Golf tournaments , Etc. their are a million things they { I guess it would be Crusaders Club ] could do. At many universities , the boosters will designate 1-2 projects a year & help out with them. While the cost of asphalt , etc. for the track has increased in price , I don't see it decreasing in the near future.

Because the Crusader Club is a joke. I quit three years ago when the only thing I got for my money was the ability to buy basketball tickets in the chairbacks. And I got to go into the Crusader Club room to talk to the same people I talk to anyway. They have a "gold mine" sitting there if they would just use it.
Golf outings would be a great start. Put silent auctions with VU stuff at them for more money. How about keeping us informed with what's going on with a newsletter. Something like that e-mail newletter rlh is sending out. It sure would be easier to get money from people if they were more informed.
Just a thought.

sid ..those are the kind of things I would like to see them do as well. It does seem like they are stuck in their ways & don't really want to change. Maybe they are raising a good amount of money per year & just don't want to tell where it is going , if they are not , they need to look at some new ideas. Just some thoughts , as well.

Seems to me that this is a pretty big contridiction in terms sid. The idea for the Crusader Club is to GIVE, not to GET. The club supports all athletic teams although you can name any specific one to support if you would prefer. Does this mean you no longer donate to athletics? And does it follow that the only thing Valpo is getting from you is a filled seat in the bleachers?

FYI....I have offered the Brown & Gold to the Crusader Club to send to members on at least five occassions and been turned down. When we published before, and the new e-mail newsletter.

What would help would be to put a link to the "Crusader Club's" site on the Valpo Alumni home page so it can be easily accessed. I think it would also help to provide this link there so that the casual or "non athletic" alum (someone who may not frequent the VU athletic home page) could at least be exposed to information about the "Crusader Club". I also believe that if VU allowed for affiliate chapters of the "Crusader Club" to begin that would peak more interest from regional alums located in those areas. (Crusader Club of Indianapolis, Crusader Club of South Florida, etc.) Do they still have the "V-Club"? You want golf outings? How about an outing sponsored by the Crusader Club of Greater Fort Lauderdale in the month of January when it's sunny and 75 degrees....anyone up for that?
