And I was at that game at the ARC, front row of the upperdeck area, leading the PG-rated pro-Panther (not anti-Valpo) cheers. And we did have a few bad apples (what school's student section hasn't when visiting opponents in force, right UIC?). I'll be the first to admit that. But please don't let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. 95% or more of our several hundred fans were just plain excited and cheering for their Panthers, and nothing more. And it was infectious, as always, and led to a great, classic basketball atmosphere, making the game all the more memorable. That loss was heartbreaking, and made for a long busride home, that's for sure.

UWM fans are the worst... UWM, 3 good years and not much else!!
They will always stand out to me, for their obnoxious and completely classless and disrespectfull presence at the senior day for our 2002 class.

'03, '04, '05, '06... I see you still can't count to 4, Nil. BTW, where does this post rank in classiness compared to your last one?

sounds like nothing more than sour grapes. if nil cant take the heat then get outa kitchen. you are supposed to be obnoxious to the opposing team, esp when you're at home (road games are different, being obnoxious at appropriate times). is what we do really all that different than other students at others schools? i think not. the more rabid the better, butler wishes it had fans like ours.

Man, it sounds like the Horizon will be a lot more competitive forum-wise, based on my ventures over to your sites, and you coming here! We only catch flak from ORU, and it seems like every team in the Horizon is well represented smack-wise!

Yep, most of the League has very active basketball message boards, save CSU, UWGB, and maybe YSU. Valpo will make seven. And at least two of those other three have vocal fans posting on the other HL boards.

And then there's the case of the Loyola board, which is somewhat active, but more a pulpit for Cigar Boy's neo-con sermons than basketball talk.

Would your student section jump off a bridge if another school's student section did first? I would consider chanting "rapist" in front of children and booing and chanting "boring" at young kids participating in timeout events pretty bad....but that's just me. With that said, I completely admire the passion of UWM fans...I just think you guys have given yourselves a bad name. If you acted more appropriate, every other school would want what you have. Most HL schools do have good message boards (I'd say UWM and UIC's stand out....both are fairly active). Loyola's is fun sometimes but it drives me up a wall. They almost never deserve to win the HL because their fans don't care enough to post more than a handful of basketball threads every few months.

I sure hope that does not occur when any school comes to VU (rapist, etc chants). Our conservative fan base would not react so well to that, as they have killed many student initiated chants in the past when I was in school ("hey" song, etc).

I can't think of any rational fan base that would find that amusing.

I KEED, I KEED! ;D But seriously, judging a sometimes 1,000+ member student section based on what a handful of misguided souls did ONE time is silly. Especially 3 years later! Can we not make blanket statements about entire fanbases based on the actions of 1 or 2%? Especially when I could easily do the same thing with UIC's student section, or just about any other school with a sizable student section. There's always a couple morons.
