UIC or UICC as they were once known was part of the great exit to what is now the Horizon. Though a solid .544 conference winning record, they one only one regular season title and never won a conference tourney in their 12 years. They have had some sucess in the HL with at least one NCAA appearance. In the end they had become a good rival for Valpo and it will nice to play them again. Sherrill Ford was a first round flop in the NBA.

Valpo had some great battles with UIC in the early 90s, but usually came up short. Ford was a great player along with a little guard named Kenny Williams.
I still remember the game VU blew in the ARC when Lance Barker went to the hoop in the closing seconds with a lead instead of pulling it out and waiting to get fouled. UIC either blocked the shot or got the rebound and ended up tying the game late and winning in overtime. Also, Casey Schmidt's last game was against UIC in the conference tournament at the Rosemont Horizon. He played a heck of a game despite a bad back and almost carried VU single-handedly to an upset win.
UIC is a quick 1-hour ride, the only thing is the Pavilion always seems kind of deserted even if there is 3,000 or 4,000 in the crowd.
