Buffalo joined the Mid-Con from the East Coast Conference as well. They had an impressive .600 winning percentage in their 4 seasons though no titles as they too were caught in the Valpo run. Buffalo wanted big time football and left for the MAC. Results in both basketball and football have been mixed at best. Valpo and Buffalo had some spirited ball games.

Valpo and Buffalo had some spirited ball games. Even after they left. For example, 2001, right Tri-g? Is Reggie Witherspoon still the head coach there?

Yes, Reggie Witherspoon is still the head coach of the Buffalo Bulls. They aren't anything worth writing home about, but he must be doing something right...like graduating STUDENT-athletes.

I think a lot of us old-timers could have a "spirited" discussion about the boys from Buffalo. To call it spirited is a little tame. They were thugs, and it started out at the top with their coach Tim Cohane. He got fired for something strange, but that was after they were out of the Mid-Con. I think they have pretty much gotten their asses kicked since leaving the Mid-Con - maybe one or two good seasons, but not a lot. Rasaun Young was the player that led the list of thugs, but I can't remember all of their other names. Regardless, it made for some interesting games. When they finally beat VU at their place, their students stormed the court and Young was dancing on the media tables.

Tim Cohane was obsessed with beating Valpo, which I believe he only did once. He's the guy who threatened to "deck" Tony Vilcinskas in a game here at the ARC. Now that would have been fun to see. Tony just laughed at him.
