The WNIT can be exciting, as I remember when we made the Elite Eight (against the University of Houston at home) for that tournament when I was in school. Probably the only women's game I went to that was packed to the rim....

Congrats SDSU!! That's a great accomplishment for a school that is still in the D-I transition phase. You may put a scare into one of the Mid-Con teams once you can battle for a spot in the NCAA tournament. Best of luck to your men's and women's teams in the Mid-Con. The conference can treat you well considering your travel could get better as the conference is starting to tilt more to the midst of the Midwest, rather than the outskirts.

I might be wrong about this, but I don't think the women are under the same restrictions as the men when it comes to transitioning into Division I. Someone might check on that, but I seem to remember Oakland's women playing in the Mid-Con Tournament before the men. ....but them I am old and senile....I might be imagining all that

Currently SDSU and NDSU are only eligible for NCAA post season play in Volleyball and Wrestling. So, we will be able to play for the Men's and Women's Mid-Con regular season championship in '07-'08 but will not be invited to the post season tourney as we would not be able to represent the conference in the NCAA Championships if we won the tourney. In '08-'09 we will be playing for the whole enchilada in all sports.
