The Lady Phoenix scored a 9 seed in the NCAA tourney and are playing the 8 seed Lady Lobos right now on ESPN Full Court. It's 15-14 now, UWGB, but that lead is down from 10-2 early on.
Something tells me they are the only HL team to get a bid, but I haven't checked. Coach is a bald guy (well, practically).
That's a pretty good seed to have. I wonder what the Westerwinds would have been seeded if they'd ever won the Mid-Con tourney the past 4 years. Prior to this year, I think they were always the number 1 seed and more than once finished the conference season 13-1. Then again, who knows how high the Lady Crusaders would have been seeded if they had beaten Oakland in 02 (they also were 13-1 and would have finished 25-7(?)).
I'm also curious who's returning for them and how tall they are.

Coach is Todd Kowalczyk I do believe...
They are a heck of a team, and should be for a few years to come. They have a great staff and a great group of players...not to mention, they recruit very well

They'll get to play UConn Tuesday night, I'm looking forward to that game.
By the way, I'm getting the impression that either Cassie Kerns is injured or she never will break into the regular rotation. 2 years now and she's seen almost no action in any games that I can tell.
Anybody know the scoop?

she probably won't get any significant playing time ever...but according to her newspaper column she's very happy there.

Coach is Todd Kowalczyk I do believe... Tod Kowalczyk is the head coach of the men's team at UWGB, Kevin Borseth is the women's coach.

Ya know...
I knew that...just couldn't think of the name...K is the only one that came to mind...
I live less than an hour south of UWGB's campus...you would think I would know that

The Lady Phoenix are leading 1 seed UConn 40-36 with 20 seconds to go in the half.
Man can they shoot the 3s.

That may change slightly with Maryland gone in the 2nd round and Marist in the Sweet Sixteen. BG is still leading Vandy, and ND is giving UNC all it can handle (of course ND is not a mid-major). Interestingly enough it is in the Women's game that at least one 16 seed has knocked off a number one seed. UWGB is now running out of gas. UConn up by 13, 70-57 at the half-way mark of the 2nd half.
