Look who also is playing for Indiana Elite and soon to be playing at Lawrence North, Brandon McPherson's, Greg Oden's & Mike Conley's high school. No wonder Indiana Elite won the national AAU title. I read this in the Indy Star from 5/2/06: Incoming transfer looks to bolster LN's basketball lineup Posted by Jeff Rabjohns Lawrence North’s chances of being a contender for the 2008 Class 4A boys basketball title have received a major boost. Guard Kyree Jones has transferred from Chicago Julian to Lawrence North. Jones is the son of former Chicago State coach Kevin Jones, who also spent time as an IUPUI assistant and head coach at Morton Memorial High School. “Lawrence North’s got a great tradition, a great coach in coach (Jack) Keefer, a lot of good, young talent,” Kevin Jones said. “I know. I’ve been watching open gyms.” The younger Jones, who will be a junior in 2007-08, had an impressive sophomore season in Chicago, including a 17-point game against Illinois-bound Demetri McCamey. Listed at 6-2, 205, Kyree Jones, who played at Bloomington South as a freshman, is playing with Bloomington-based Indiana Elite this spring and summer. He’ll be able to develop chemistry with Lawrence North classmate Stephan Van Treese, a 6-9 post player for Indiana Elite. Jones looks to have a major impact at Lawrence North, which had eight underclassmen 6-6 or taller in its program last season.

Next to IU and PU, Lawrence North probably recruits better than any other school in Indiana.

This is a rumor that has been going around since the end of the basketball season and I don't think that it has much credibility, but some are saying that super freshman and #1 ranked player in the class of 2010, DeShaun Thomas, is considering transferring to Lawrence North. ;D Iisn't it amazing how rumors perpetuate???

You did know that Greg Oden lived in Terre Haute before moving to Lawrence in elementary school? I wonder if Mike Conley Sr. has been his "agent" for a lot longer than this spring. :-)

Actually, Oden and Conley transfered during middle school.
At this point, there's no doubt that LN attracts alot of kids looking for basketball exposure... I think in the beginning there may have been some influence from Keefer, but now his name, the name the basketball program has established, and the fact that LN probably has produced more D1 talent (and NBA talent) than any other school in the state brings these players without any tampering from coaches or others.
If you were a top player, looking for exposure - why wouldnt you want to move into LN's district? And how is it any different from what private schools do? Also, if everything is legit with housing in the district, who's to say that it's wrong??
Don't forget that Eric Montross also attended LN, winning the single class state championship in '89, and then going on to be an all american at UNC, and playing in the NBA.
I have to wonder if LN has had the most 7' players of any high school team in the state, or country for that matter. (Montross, Stewart, Oden) and probably has the all time tallest average height among all the players on the team through the years. It seems that they constantly have lineups that are taller than alot of D1 teams!
