per BU board: BU720: I've heard from several sources that there may have been an issue with Raffington and the NCAA Clearinghouse. I don't think it has anything to do with his academics, but more along the lines of him having played in leagues with paid professionals (Raffington was not paid however). If this happens to be true, what another ridiculous rule by the NCAA. It's not like Europe has AAU, so how else are college-bound players going to compete? AND if he wasn't paid, but only played with players that were, how is that an issue? That's all I know...maybe someone else can chime in who knows more about the rule and his situation. So it appears that other schools dipping into the International pool of players recently are suffering from what Valpo has been in the past few years with these guys.
