I don't go back as far as many on this board, but far enough. You could count on Rick for a few things. He could always get a discussion going, so there was almost never a lull on the board, but he would often go way, way, over the top in personally attacking posters who disagreed with him. I never was the object of one of those attacks, but I don't think anybody deserved them, or should have had to endure them. I also got pretty tired of the way he turned so many discussions into political/ideological diatribes. I don't come to this board for that. There would be a good discussion going on some sports topic, and then off he would go and I either had to wade through it or just stop following the thread. It got pretty old. So much as I sometimes miss his ability to generate discussion, and his sometimes insightfully observations, this board is a far, far more civil place without him. So I voted no.

I couldn't agree more, BigMo. But I wonder how people would feel, then, if I owned a business and put a sign outside stating I'll only serve a certain type of people, or I won't serve a certain type of person because I've had trouble with those types of people in the past (I'm not talking about the archaic racial ridiculousness of decades past, mind you. That's disgusting and inexcusible). I'm saying, like the Philadelphia guy who said you have to speak English to patronize his store. It's my business, I own it. Not casting aspersions or insinuating anything, just curious as to the responses. Not the same thing JMill....if you owned a store and a patron was disruptive, combative with other customers and generally would be a pain in the backside, you have the right to keep them out...has nothing to do with being prejudice

Well at least I got rid of some of the lull by simply mentioning Rick being allowed back! I must say, I'm surprised as many people are against it as they are. Apparently, I'm one of only a few that find him mostly harmless.

That's what I figured.

Fortunately (or not) the final few things that Rick did to get banned were quickly caught by myself and the other admins before they were viewed by many people. The instance that ultimately got him banned was something that I was the 7th view of, and immediately removed it and banned him.
Though he was posting his items in the off-topic section, the graphic nature of the material was something that simply could not be tolerated. There were times where he would post long diatribes and the next post would be an image that (quite literally) made people sick to their stomachs...essentially catching the reader off guard.
Rick failed to follow the rules that were set forth in this forum and was given several chances. He chose to continue his ways in working against the things that are considered to be acceptable and he was banned.
He went through all of the stages of punishment, and reached the lifetime ban category, despite several warnings. Because of this, it is my opinion that he should not be allowed back on this forum. He chose to not follow the rules, we did not force him to do so.
