OK, since we have now have a "VU Discussion" page, I'll start things off with a couple questions. First, are applications up for this coming year? For those who are current VU students, what was the biggest draw in choosing VU? What was the biggest negative? Second, what do you think about the university's decision to convert the bookstore into a workout facility? Good idea? Should we have waited for big donor to step forward so we could build a fieldhouse? What do students think? Third, if VU could immediately begin one new campus project, what would you recommend? What would students recommend? Paul

alright, i'll bite.
1) for me, the biggest draw was the program that i went into. there is no meteorology program like this one unless you want a big state school. not for me. depending on who you talk to, our program is either #3 or 4 behind oklahoma and texas tech, and fighting with penn state. you could even through purdue and wisconsin in if you wanted, but again-giant schools. biggest drawback - quite possibly twice. i owe my parents a ton for pledging to get me through with as little in the way of loans as possible. hard to do for a family of five, with one parent on a priest's salary.
2) i don't mind the idea of converting the bookstore into a workout facility. it'll give much more space for better equipment than we currently have now.
3) dorms, without a doubt. i realize that some of the academic buildings are in need of repair (neils, mueller), but they need to remodel the freshman dorms and get a/c into them asap. if living conditions are crappy, you won't draw students.
