Tough loss for Baylor. The "taking off his jacket" T for Scott really hurt. The intentional foul call later didn't help.
Who was the 4-5 year old boy that Homer was playing with? Scott's? Bryce's?

And congrats to Scott and the Baylor Bears on a terrific run in the Big 12 tournament, and NIT!

I haven't watched my tape yet, but I read that the T game after he pitched his jacket over the bench, and that he apologized to his team afterwards for getting it.

The ESPN feed wasn't particularly convincing. We see Scott, fairly, casually, tossing his jacket to a manager. And, we hear the ESPN guys expressing their dismay at the call. And we see Scott's outraged response.
We don't see whatever interaction happened between Scott and the ref before he took the jacket off (did he "show up" the ref?).
But, the T looked pretty awful.

agibson described it pretty accurately. It was an underhand toss (if you could even call it that) of around 12" into the waiting hand of a manager behind the bench. Yet here is how the AP inaccurately described the event in their post game article: "The dramatic change in momentum infuriated Baylor coach Scott Drew, who stared down one of the referees after a foul and then violently threw his jacket behind his team’s bench, drawing a quick technical foul and putting his team in too deep a hole to dig out." I will agree that Scott was infuriated and that he did stare down the referee, but the rest of it is a bunch of baloney! whoever wrote this must be blind because they did not see the actual event or any of the MANY video replays showing it over and over again.

From my perspective, watching the game, the T _caused_ the momentum swing. But, I didn't review the game.

FW - I'm glad you pointed out that paragraph in the AP story. I read that in The Times, and I was thinking, "What game was that reporter watching?" Actually, the reporter probably didn't even see what happened. But it was clearly not a "flagrant" throw of his jacket. It was more like if he was handing his jacket to an attendant in the coat room at Strongbow's.
The T itself only cost Baylor one point. Penn State made just one free throw and didn't score on the ensuing possession. The flagrant call was worse, I thought.

I actually thought the intentional was the right call...remember, the rule isn't intended as "flagrant" in the NBA for excessive contact, rather its in place when someone intentionally fouls while making no play on the ball...
While watching (and I don't remember the players involved) it was pretty clear that the Baylor defender wrapped the Penn State player up with both arms...pretty easy call in my book.
The T on the other hand...well, that wasn't a good one...

I just thought the refs may have let it go since the Baylor kid made sure to grab the Penn State player from behind, bracing him so he wouldn't fall down. He reached in, and I seem to think that he made a play on the ball, with his left arm and held the guy in the back with his right arm to keep him from landing on the ground.

An intentional foul is usually one of desperation. I saw none of that in this particular foul. I thought there was a play for the ball but the referee reacted to the hold.
The intentional foul may have cost BU more in terms of points, but I felt the technical started a wave of momentum on which this intentional foul continued to build. It is amazing that when you start to think you can't do anything right it generally becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
