My wife and I will be submitting our ballot to determine the most influential of Valpo's 150 nominees. We know most of the people from the athletic nominees of the 50's(Thurston,Raasch,Bielke, Poppe and Mel). However, other than Bryce and Lubos we don't know much about the others and their athletic accomplishments. Help us out if you will.McClendon, LaSorda (nah,he's an honorary) Redmon - HELP! Thanks. And,fwalum, I got left off the ballot. How about you?:thumbsup

My knowledge of VU sports only runs from maybe 1966 'till 1978. The best athlete I saw at VU during that time period was Dick Jones, who played both basketball and baseball at VU. He was a terrific guard on several excellent bball teams, including the 1966-67 and 1967-68 teams, both of whom went to the college division basketball post-season tournament. He was also an outstanding pitcher on several excellent VU baseball teams, including the 1968 team that went undefeated in league play. Paul

McClendon was a major league baseball player of some respect and a major league manager, still a coach in the majors....Redmon was Player of the Year his senior year and along with Casey Schmidt, his tranferring back to VU started the run that resulted in all those NCAA tournament appearances.
