Pretty quiet on this board lately. Thought I'd start this thread, devoted to questions for ML. We can submit questions for Mark and, if he has time later this month, perhaps he can answer them. Here's my question: Is it reasonable to think that funding for the new track, and installation of the same, will be complete by the start of the 09-10 academic year? Paul

Sorry...I'm behind schedule. I meant to say "by the beginning of the '10-11 school year." Paul

The tennis complex and the Brown Field renovations were made possible when donors came forward and made leadership gifts that moved the projects forward in significant ways. We continue to look for leadership gifts for the track project. Once we identify them we will move ahead quickly.

Mark, If you get a moment, could you let us know what plans, if any, the athletic department has for this upcoming year in terms of upgrading facilities? I thought I saw a construction trailer in front of the softball field a couple weeks ago. I don't know if it's there because the softball complex will be upgraded. I thought I saw somewhere that there would be some work on the ARC, too. Your comments on that would be appreciated. And any information on the proposed new track would be great! Thanks, Paul

Last Spring President Heckler asked the University Board to discuss a number of facilities related issues. Three Ad Hoc Task Forces were established, one of which has spent the Summer and Fall reviewing athletics and recreational facilities on campus. They are scheduled to present their full report to the Board in January 2010. I will be able to give you a better sense of what the future may look like in terms of facilities once that report has been finalized. In the short term we have been working on plans and a funding strategy for renovating the women's locker rooms in the ARC, completing the softball field, and replacing the main arena floor.
