i wish this was more relevant to our beloved crusaders (except maybe that we contributed a couple to the cause), but the kentucky wildcats got their 2000th win as a program tonight. they're the first school in d1 basketball to reach the milestone. congrats to calipari and the team!
how many wins are we behind them? anybody have a ballpark figure off the top of your head?

Since you said off the top of your head... let's see... Did Homer bring us into D1? Or was it a few years before? No, i guess it was well before that (this is embarrassing!)
I'll venture we have 700 D1 wins.
(But, I shouldn't play trivia games before my coffee! I actually had trouble quickly finding the D1 number. Since joining D1 we've had something like.... XXX total wins. So, that should be an upper bound.)
Well, let me obfuscate that in case anyone else wants to play. XXX = (25 * 17 * 64 / 20 - 1 ) / 3

If we started playing D1 in 77-78, yhen I think I counted 451 wins since then. Some of those, maybe 2 per year on average, we against non-D1 teams so don't know if they count.

I see RLH neglected to post my other caveat...
the win total INCLUDES the 1995-96 victory over Purdue by FORFEIT...
oh, I did include all games on the regular season schedule for all of the calculations... I see KY starting counting forever... I don't know when the Divisions started...
We may have been "D-1" in the 1920s? I see the 1923-24 season we played DePaul; Eastern KY; Louisville; Detroit; Western Michigan (twice)... oh, those were all VU wins! (along with an exciting 11-9 win over Campion College)

for Valpo '72... your John Lithgow quote must be accurate... he and I went to the same High School (Princetion, NJ) and we always tell the truth.

But I added it up rather quickly, from the media guide. Don't even remember if I included this season. By the way, John - welcome to the board!
