Andy Martin is about 6-1. He's a very good high school player, has been playing point guard. Good slasher, decent outside shooter. He's a senior. Dan Hummel is a junior, about 6-5. He plays mostly JV but dresses for the varsity. He's got a lot of potential and has gotten bigger and stronger since last year. He's built like Rob, just not quite as tall yet. If I was a college coach, I'd keep my eye on him. I'd also keep an eye on another junior, John Clymer. He's about 6-2, maybe the best 3-point shooter on Valpo's team (which is saying a lot), and is also good at going strong to the basket. I know VU's got a verbal commitment from Austin Richie from Lowell, another guard who is a junior, but I'd not write off a couple of the Valpo High kids.

I remember when Richie verballed, you weren't very high on him (that's putting it mildly, as I recall). Do you happen to know how he's doing so far this season - and/or have you seen him play?

No, I never see Lowell play and I haven't looked up his stats. I know earlier today he was leading the Times region roundball rumble's 3-point shooting contest, but I don't know how he finished. I have talked to a few people who have seen him play, and they weren't overly impressed. But I'll admit, the people I've talked to are probably a little biased against him.
