Is anyone surprised that USC has "discovered" NCAA violations in regards to O.J. Mayo and his one year at the school? With his history of several high schools and dubious academics, I think everyone knew there was something going on there....I am constantly amazed how schools keep getting caught, yet they keep doing the same things over and over again.

The other thing I've noticed with a lot of these schools that this happened too...the coach in question came from the college game, to the NBA, and then went back to the college game. Maybe some of you will think this is ridiculous, but think about the coaches this has happened to recently, John Calipari and Tim Floyd. Both were in the NBA before they returned to the college sidelines. I guess what I should be getting at is maybe the NCAA put in a "show me" clause for coaches who are being hired in to college head coaching positions after being on an NBA coaching staff?

The biggest problem I have with this, is that the school gets penalized (which it should) but the coach doesn't. Seems to me that when you have repeated violations, like Calipari has at his last two schools, the coach should receive some kind of punishment too. Instead they just move to a different school and repeat the process

Is this what the "show me" clause is supposed to do? I agree, rlh, John Calipari should receive some kind of punishment for demoralizing a college basketball program, and making it reflect harshly on the institution that he represented as their head basketball coach. Again, this is where some people should realize that while Bobby Knight did have character flaws, he at least made sure that his flaws reflected badly on him, and not on Indiana University as a whole.
