The European Union has declared travelling a human right, and is launching a scheme to subsidize vacations with taxpayers' dollars for those too poor to afford their own trips.

Antonio Tajani, the European Union commissioner for enterprise and industry, proposed a strategy that could cost European taxpayers hundreds of millions of euros a year, The Times of London reports.

So he's essentially wanting to take taxpayer money to make day trips for those who can't afford to go anywhere? None of this made any kind of sense, even if it was supposed to support their economy and culture.

I can't wait for the backlash from people who decided they couldn't afford to go on vacation, and didn't... while their tax money is being used to send others!

I saw one reply in the comments section that suggests that this is a proposal by one official and is far from a done deal. I'd be curious to see if this story shows up in other sources as a done deal.
