Well, maybe we have a chance. I certainly hope so, as winning is winning and apparently bowling is a very big sport in Illinois, Indiana and other Great Lake states.
Here is a story from today's Post-Tribune. We are getting two High School All-Americans and now a comittment from the top bowler in Northern Indiana!! Go Valpo!! :cheers

Kaity Galka will be within striking distance of home when she competes as a college bowler in 2010.
Galka, likely Northwest Indiana's top female high school bowler, has decided to attend Valparaiso University after visiting the campus and meeting with new coach Stephen Anthony. VU begins its first season this fall, competing in NCAA Division I.
"VU has good academics and they're giving me a financial aid package that covers tuition," she said. "When I heard Valparaiso was starting a program I decided to check it out. Being a new program made my decision easier," said Galka who has one year left at Lake Central.
She led the Indians to the state championship this season as anchor. LC also won state her freshman year when she became a starter in midseason.
Galka captured the Post-Tribune Scholarship Bowling Tournament two of the last three years, including last month's seventh annual event. She's been P-T all-area first team all three years. She averaged 209 this season, second highest in the state.
She rolled her first 300 game in January and her high series (782) a year ago. The right-hander led the Westlake Conference girls over all-stars from three other leagues a few months ago then helped the P-T all-area girls beat the boys in a Baker format "battle of the sexes."
It seems almost every time Galka needs a big strike she comes through.
"I'm very competitive," she admits, adding "we practice spares all the time.
"I love the Baker format with the whole team competing. We build off each other."
She expects big things in her final season at Lake Central. "We have pretty much the whole team back (losing one senior) plus new girls." To prepare, she bowls in two summer leagues including a sport-shot league.
The honor roll student is Anthony's first local recruit but won't be the last, he said. "I want to get the best out of Northwest Indiana. I'm very committed to recruiting the region which has tremendous talent."
He's not allowed to discuss specific recruits until they sign. The early signing period is in November.
She's already seen two future Crusaders teammates bowl. Twins Amanda and Natalie Cortese, 2008 Denny's High School All-Americans from a Chicago suburb, helped Central Missouri make the NCAA national championship. Central Missouri, which Galka considered, lost to Nebraska in the final.
"We have four transfers who competed in the NCAA tournament this year," Anthony noted. He said the twins, who visited VU twice, wanted stronger academics and to be near home. "They'll be great team leaders."
