Very interesting timing with UIC assistant having been named head coach at ChiState. Also, timing is also very late in the summer, but then again this was about the time Scott was recruited by Baylor....

Was about the same time that Tom Horne resigned, giving Stacy Adams the head coaching position for football, wasn't it? Ironic how this kind of stuff happens when it seems so late, either in the coaching search, or recruiting season?

One could speculate that it was part of a succession plan in place by the Athletic Department to have the recruiting class settled, announce retirement and promote assistant, but this doesn't sound like that. Plus, AD announces that this will be a national search. May explain why the assistant left to take the HC offer from ChiSt.

Sounds like Dildy was told that he wouldn't be a candidate for the position, so he sought employment elsewhere in the city of Chicago.
My guess is that the scope of this search won't be as great as the AD makes it sound, given the late date of the revelation and the outcry of Chicago Public League coaches that local schools hire "one of their own."
In the meantime, I think this will be a case of short-term pain, long-term gain for UIC.

I was thinking the same thing Dylan......I have a feeling Dildy was told he wasn't getting the job so he bolted....I would hope that Collins told him ahead of time at least.....
