Out of 149 total votes, the UWM backcourt gets a whopping 3 votes - on their own website! :lol

Obviously, Mack and Nored would be runaway picks at this point. That said, until I saw the poll I hadn't stopped to consider how many good guard tandems there are. I really like ours, but I like several of the others as well. If they all stay healthy, we should be in for some great battles.

Spartan, I can only address my own vote. I for one don't think it should be a popularity contest and it drives me absolutely mad when fans vote for major-league All-Stars merely because they're "my guys." So I voted for Shelvin Mack and Ronald Nored. For the record, I would place Chase Simon and Ray McCallum Jr. as the No. 2 team and Rahmon Fletcher and Bree Perine at No. 3. The Milwaukee backcourt is too much of an unknown commodity to place it any higher than middle of the pack.

First off, our backcourt MAY be Harris-Wood, but more likely, to start the season, it will be Kurth-Wood. Depending on the situation, it will be Buggs-Wood plus a handfull of subs to spell Brandon. We've been told that Tommy and Erik have both put on size and muscle and if improved shooting was part of the off season workouts the combinations will be many. When we need speed to counteract speed, the call will go to Erik. If we need sure handed leadership the call will go to Tommy, and if we need scoring, it goes to Harris. Nice problems, don't you think??

Nice problems, don't you think?? Maybe ... unless you start the season 3-11 again and your coach keeps rolling out the "we're struggling to find a rotation that works" excuse. Hopefully the August practices and trip will give the staff a chance to figure things out before the middle of January this season.

As a fan, I agree that it's frustrating to see different line-ups and substitution patterns all the way through the non-conference schedule - and beyond. That said, last year was unique in that we had a gazillion new and/or inexperienced players, both in terms of the Valpo system and in many cases playing at the college level. With only two new players to work into the mix this year, I would expect the task of blending 13 individuals into one cohesive team should be somewhat easier this year.

I just looked at the poll and see that McCallum and Simon are ahead of Mack and Nored 847 (76%) to 182 (16%). Why would anyone want to ruin what was intended to be a fun poll ? So much for integrity...
