The Franklin House now is owned by former VU football player Jason Evans, who graduated in about 1992.

My wife took that photo near UNC at Local 506. I cannot remember the band's name, but it was not any of the ones you mention. Local 506 is a fine establishment to visit if you ever get out to the Raleigh-Durham area. That bar is actually in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. A good rule of thumb for VU travelers who have never been there before but are well-versed with NW Indiana (as we all should be): Chapel Hill = Valparaiso (of course) Raleigh = Portage Durham = Chesterton Holly Springs = Hobart (i.e., avoid) Lumberton = ?

When I was an undergrad I liked it a lot - was one of my favorite "nice dinner out" type places.
A somewhat unusual combination of tex-mex and Italian. (Well, I guess with Maria Elena's this no longer seems so strange in Valpo.)
Going back later in life, I was less impressed by the quality (grow older, travel more, eat better, go figure). But, I still think it's a perfectly decent place, with some fairly interesting things on the menu.
At 2-for-1, certainly, well worth a visit.

The Franklin House is still open, and quite popular still.

Round the Clock is still around, but it might be at a different location now than you remember? I swear it used to be located somewhere other than where it is now, but I couldn't tell you for sure.
Current address: 217 East Lincolnway

Even though no one was around (even in the fraternity houses, which we searched), homecuming was a lot of fun this year. The highlights included watching cops surround and storm the empty theta chi house (so brave), and smelling the raw sewage and watching drunks hurl oversized horseshoes at the crowd behind Duffy's.

Duffys outdoors smelled like a sewer but it was not as bad as smell emanating from a Theta Chi / Phi O party.

Ate at Industrial Revolution while in town last weekend. Thought the atmosphere was great and the food also good. Very nice beer selection!
