I just finished checking where all of our fellow Horizon League schools are ranked, academically, by US News. There are two categories: First is Masters level Midwest. In this group, Butler, Valpo, Detroit and YSU are included. Here are the rankings: Butler 2 Valpo 5 Detroit 30 YSU second tier (somewhere south of 100) In the National University rankings, Milwaukee, Gree Bay, Loyola, UIC, WSU and CSU are included. Here are the rankings: Loyola 117 UIC 143 All others tier two (top 200 in tier one) As an example, IU was ranked 75 in the nationals. So, I would say that Valpo, Butler, Detroit, Loyola and UIC are "highly ranked" while the others are not in the same "league"!

Come on, you've got three doctoral programs, two of which lead to being Dr. Nurse. There's no reason to even compare Valpo with the HL publics because you're a completely different university.

So because your school is a second tier school you try to belittle our ranking? You don't seriously think your undergrad programs could compare to ours do you?? I was reporting the facts. What are you trying to say?

What are you trying to say? I'm trying to say we have completely different institutions. I took offense to your "while the others are not in the same "league"!" bull****. I understand you point and acknowledge that they are completely different institutions. That being said however, my analysis did show how you ranked against others in the same category. Milwaukee isn't ranked in the top 200 in your grouping. That means academic powerhouses like Kent State, Ball State and many sub-set universites like University of Texas--Dallas are all more highly ranked than your school. I didn't make up the rankings, I just reported the facts and did make a judgement statement. Look, you and your fellow alumni should be all over your administration about this. It impacts the value of your degree. You have 30,000 students and hundreds of thousands of alumni yet your endowment is about half of Valpo's. You can read the posts from concerned alumni about the possibility of Valpo falling out of the top 5 in our grouping. So, yes, I did say Milwaukee and others were in a different "league" and if that was insulting I apologize.
