Great interview, thanks for posting! I'm particularly happy to hear that a new "Welcome Center" will be developed starting in the Fall, combining Admissions, Financial Aid, and Alumni relations in one new building. It sounds like the Welcome Center construction project hopefully will start after the Board of Directors meeting in October, according to the article in the NW Indiana Times today. www.nwitimes.com/news/local/porter/valparaiso/article_7a1d6ef5-d70a-502c-ae53-92c7c1f56d8a.html

The article stated that it plans to be done by Fall 2011....that sounds pretty ambitious, almost unbelievable. Either way, this is an exciting addition to campus and should really spruce up the Main entrance to campus.

I agree, for the building to be ready by mid to late-August , that only gives about 9-10 months to complete construction and allow time for moving in. I suppose however, when compared in size alone to other recently completed VU building projects, perhaps a 14,000 sq. ft. new building can be completed, as it is much smaller in size than say the new union or library, which took a couple years to build. It will be interesting to watch construction progress. It will be a nice addition to campus when done.

Just as a point of reference, the Fites expansion to Gellersen Hall will be 13,500 sq feet, so this will be very similar in size at 14,000 sq feet. I can't wait to see the renderings of this building.

I think it is amazing how many new buildings have been put in place/are being put in place since I graduated 6 years ago! I look forward to going back sometime in the near future!
