Hello all. I have a dumb question about tailgating at Valpo. Are you able to bring alcohol? Thanks.

The idea of tailgating (with alcohol) has been circulating around campus over the past couple weeks. There has been nothing official (at least that I've been able to find), but many people seem to think that alumni will be able to consume alcohol this weekend on campus. I will say that I saw a small mesh fence around the Huegli lawn (which is where Okotber fest will be taking place). Mesh fences are usually there for alcohol consumption, so we'll see what happens this year.

It seems this may be a change due to the change in administration. Harre made Valpo a dry campus to the extent that if there was an alumni gathering on campus you couldn't even have a glass of wine. The 150th bash had booze and plenty of it (held on Brown Field) so I'm hoping that sensibility has sunk in and a change will be in place for Homecoming.

I would hope the changes are being made to allow for alcohol at the tailgating parties. If they want to change the fan experience I would highly recommend it. Also, I am not refering to sloppy frat boy drunk, but to tailgate and have a burger and a beer without looking over your shoulder would be fantastic.

Wow, surprising and awesome to hear that the school might have modified their rules in this area. I'd like to see something official before getting too excited, but it would be great news if the University got with the program and returned to the real world here.
