Portland is making the Panthers look bad because the Pilots are running the ball up, getting to the paint, rather than moving the ball around the perimeter looking for three. Therefore, the Panthers are struggling because they are trying to make things happen, but are either turning the ball over or not making shots because they are rushing them. Milwaukee just needs to come out and slow down the tempo, plus some stronger defense, and look like they mean to be in this game. They are currently down, 40-26 at halftime.

It's a final from Portland. UW-Milwaukee loses, 80-60. They couldn't get shots to fall. They would shoot them long or too quick. Hopefully they'll work on this detail, and be ready for their next game.

And this was the team picked one slot below Valpo in the pre-season poll? Not a very impressive score.

They didn't look impressive either. How many players are they missing from last season, besides those who graduated?

Good lord we played like ****.
All in all, there's 5 players off the team from last year:
Ricky Franklin: Graduated (Sociology) James Eayrs: Graduated (Educational Youth Leadership) Burleigh Porte: Graduated (Business) Jason Averkamp: Graduated (Business) Deonte Roberts: Left team (grades)
We just played an AWFUL two games to start the year, and to be honest, our 11 point victory against UC Davis wasn't a great one either. We can't shoot to save our lives, some awful FG, 3PT and FT numbers this weekend, especially FT.
Jeter's teams have typically come out of the gate slowly, even his first team that went to the second round of the NCAA's. But I think the patience of our fans can't take double-digit neutral court losses to Portland and Florida Atlantic. I know it was at Portland, but the away game had only 1500 or so in attendance because their women's soccer team had the first round NCAA tournament at their field. I know, I know, women's soccer, right? Well, they got 3,100 at that game just an hour and a half or so after the start of the basketball game Friday.

The game against Portland also had an early afternoon start, like 2PM out West? This may have had a major effect with kids in school and people who still have work on Fridays, or jobs altogether. From what I know, the Portland Lady Pilots soccer program has a much better following than the Men's basketball program does. The weekend was kind of a wash for you guys, even with the win over UC-Davis, since they still haven't fully transitioned to D-I play, and I'm not sure they ever will anyway. Just hope to see you guys improve the FT shooting before conference play, as we at VU know what FT shooting can do to win or lose games in the last 4 mins.

UC Davis may not be much of a program, but they're no provisional. Unless that's not what you meant by "haven't fully transitioned."

They are in the Big West Conference, but never usually near the top. I remember them being more of a recent addition to Division I athletics, and always forget when it was they came into D-I play. It would be nice to find a non-Wikipedia site that shows when every D-I team entered the top division of NCAA athletics, whether they honestly belong there or not.

No love for wikipedia? But, I don't see that even they have a list. It's a fairly particular question. They do have a list of schools in transition. But, not, apparently, a list of schools that have successfully transitioned. Even the main UC Davis wiki page isn't completely definitive - it doesn't seem to provide a single clear date for the transition. But, does talk some about it.
