Detroit opened the season losing by 9 to New Mexico. Ray Jr. did the following: Ray McCallum G 22 2-7 0-3 2-5 3 1 4 4 0 2 4 0 6 That's 6 points in 22 minutes, 2 of 7 shooting, 4 tos and 4 assts. Oh Yeah, Chase Simon went 0-10 from the field while Holman had 15 pts and 13 rebounds.

I can't quite decode that line, but it was also four fouls, right? I think it was the HLN press release that talked about his minutes being limited by foul trouble.

Speaking of freshmen in their league debuts, one of Green Bay's caught my eye:
"7-foot-1 freshman Alec Brown added six blocks to help the Phoenix's defensive effort". That in a 76-35 win (different ways to rout an opponent!) over Minnesota-Duluth (a much weaker opponent than New Mexico, obviously.
But, I suppose, Rowdy should teach me to recalibrate block numbers against weak opponents. I'm sure Brown will block some shots in Horizon League games in his time. And hopefully Broekhoff will too - but I guess Brown's six blocks are hardly more impressive than Rowdy's seven against Olivet Nazarene!

The box score doesn't breakdown the fouls by individual as everyone had -0- but the team had 25 so looks like fould trouble ran further than just Ray.

www.detroittitans.com/custompages/MBB/2010-11%20Stats%20&%20Box%20Scores/game1.htmhas the full box score. You're not kidding about team foul trouble. Minnerath fouled out, and four other players had four each. As for McCallum, he had two fouls in the first 3:30, which sent him to the bench. And picked up his third in the first half as well, where he saw just seven minutes of playing time altogether. He kept it a bit cleaner in the second half, taking almost fifteen minutes of playing time to pick up his fourth.

Steve Alford got a double-double from his true freshman Alex Kirk also. Detroit had a 22-10 run over the last 8 minutes. The Bob Knight protege' from New Castle, IN was not happy at all about that finish.
