The university has outdrawn the high school (if you believe the attendance figures) over the years when basketball games were at both places, but not this time... ...especially with this being a quarter-final game between two teams with 12-0 records and both thinking they have a realistic chance to win the 5-A state championship in a couple of weeks. As to the VU game, I will be looking to see how well attended the student section is. Of the highlights I saw on the news tonight I thought both Lawrence Central and Fishers look good enough to beat Valpo HS. Fishers Tigers will get first crack up in Hamilton County next Friday and my guess is the Larry Central Bears will be waiting for the winner at Lucas Oil Stadium downtown on Thanksgiving weekend. Remember that Fishers beat Carmel 17-14 last week, although Carmel's staff has been going through that hazing scandal since last year so they might have been a bit distracted. One of the Greyhound boys could get some jail time from that scandal hitting the basketball team. Warren Central lost to Larry Central last week 35-14 after Warren beat Center Grove in overtime the last game of the regular season when the Trojans kicker missed the final extra point to tie the game 28-27. Good luck to the Vikings! It certainly won't be easy! Oh yeah, the Crusaders beat some team that couldn't score at all until 4 minutes 29 seconds had gone by while Valpo put up 14 points on the scoreboard.

I somehow doubt that a hazing scandal that happened during the basketball season to the basketball team had little to do with Carmel's football loss. What I saw was that Fishers was simply better. Fishers has beaten three 1 loss teams in a row and it should be a great game Friday. Go Tigers! As far as a Carmel boy getting some jail time....I would not bet the farm on that one. The Hamilton County Prosecutor was basically forced to pursue this and has been a joke throughout. If nothing else hopefully she will lose in her next election. For those who went to the Aurora exhibiltion, one of the violators who pleaded guilty to a much reduced charge one or two days before this game, played for Aurora. Scott Laskowski, son of former IU player John Laskowski is the kid. Daddy, who learned from the pillar of no personal responsibilty, thinks his son is the victim.

If anything there should be a sense of relief to the underclassmen that there back sides are not going to violated by a group of seniors.

Truth is the seniors play the most and feel cheated when they got hazed and can't return the "favor" to freshmen. I know a high school boy who doesn't play sports and goes to Cathedral and lives in Carmel. He said the junior/senior athletes at both Carmel and Cathedral are watching this like it's the end of the world and if they throw them in jail the hazing will stop. No jail time the whole thing is soon forgotten and the hazing continues. The Hendricks County prosecutor needs to see the whole story here. The "real" jail time thing only became important in October when Hendricks County felt it important to prosecute. Hamilton County failed it's populace. The lawyers will get this to a federal level also.

I saw where Valpo HS lost to Fishers in the semi-state football game 30-12. There was an interesting quote from R.C. Hauser of Fishers about the play that seemed to break the Valpo team's back. Hauser fumbled the snap when Fishers was set up to punt and ran 28 yards for a first down. Trailing 16-6 in the third quarter, the Vikings forced Fishers to punt on fourth-and-10 from the Fishers 31. Hauser missed the snap but picked up the loose ball and scampered 28 yards for the first down. "I had to run back and get the ball," Hauser said. "I saw open field and it was exciting to me because I thought I was going to get my head chewed off and just ran." Said Wimmer: "He's done that a couple times this year, just coming up with something out of nothing." No thinking, just running, because he was afraid the coach was going to chew his head off.

Hauser made three huge plays in the game, which were the turning point. The fumbled snap and subsequent 28 yard run on the punt was the biggest play of the game. It appeared Valpo had taken the momentum, but those kinds of plays are what seperates champions and runners up. I'd like to see Adam Peterka, defensive end for Valpo at VU next year. The kid can play and this level would be perfect for him

you are correct rlh, the punt play was the play of the game. Not sure how it ends without that. Fishers is on an amazing roll , beating 4 teams that had a combined 3 losses going into their games. LC has a QB that is like U Michigan's QB...should be a great game.
The Valpo faithful turned out in limpressive numbers. Their turn out was very similar to what our cross town rival had 2 weeks ago.
