Sat down to eat lunch and watch a bit of the Falcons/Packers game. A bit of the game is all I saw. Kickoff to start the second half. Pack ran three plays, then punt. A set of commercials ensued. Two and a half minutes later, back to the game. Falcons ran two plays, then called a timeout. Another set of commercials. Predictably, on third down the Falcons didn't make it, so they punted. ANOTHER set of commercials. Pack got the ball back; ran three plays, then punted. You guessed it...another two and a half minutes of commercials. Total time spent "watching" NFL football: 15 minutes, of which 10 minutes were for commercials. Including kicking plays, I saw 12 plays. In 15 minutes. Paul

It's even worse when you go. At least when there are commercials at home, you can change the channel or do something else. At the game you just sit there, looking at a bunch of players just standing around, waiting for a man on the sidelines to let them know its ok to start playing again.

Paul I think you'll find this Wall Street Journal article interesting. It totally supports your point about too many commercials. It goes so far as to say there are only 11 minutes of action in the average NFL game. online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704281204575002852055561406.html

That's why I DVR most of the games I plan to watch. I'll start watching it an hour or so later and can catch up to the live telecast near the end of the game. You just have to stay away from the phone or Internet during the games, so you don't get a spoiler!
