I know Milwaukee had a lot of graduation from last year's team, but do they have someone who is injured right now? They just don't look like they have a spark in them.

When did we become a defensive team? Cool..... See!!!!! Harping and harping and harping on one single point can lead to a change and this Valpo team is getting the message that defense wins games. Hallelujah!!!! ;D

scrappy effort today, and i was impressed. i just hope that what i thought to be cory looking ginger (back issue perhaps) was just due to my watching it on a 13 inch laptop screen in low-res. he and kevin need to rest up and recover in a hurry for tuesday's game if we're going to run with purdue. if we come out like we did this afternoon, it'll help. here's to hoping that we don't relapse into our usual weak first half style.

We aren't getting much love on the Loyola board...maybe some of them saw a different game than I

The Loyola fans should wake up then. I think we thoroughly outplayed them. We outshot them, 48% to 34%. We outrebounded them. Those were two keys that needed working on from Thursdays game. We commanded the game the whole way after being down 7-6, and played defense for a lengthy stretch, holding them scoreless, when it mattered most, all on the road, against a team that has found ways to win previously. I am impressed with out play, and think that we can hang with anybody in the Horizon, and even have confidence we can beat Butler or CSU on a good day. Lets have a good showing at Purdue now, and hopefully sweep the rest of our pretty weak non-conf schedule against cupcakes from the MAC.

I think they are on the money relative to Homer out coaching Whitesell. Homer has been masterful this year and has brought out the best from this group. down the stretch, he will make an even bigger difference.

Kyle Whelliston was apparently in the house for the Loyola game, twittering away twitter.com/midmajoritymaybe we'll get a game report out of it. You can check it out on his twitter feed starting with He did his usual Friday live chat from the Skyway McDonald's. His final analysis wasn't quite as complementary (good, not great, HL team?), but he did say nice things along the way like "More than slightly impressed by Valpo so far. Solid, hard-jawed, picks great shots and is leading 23-17 at 6:08 1H. Shooting 59%. FIFTEEN."

72, I think that I just got a little nauseous.
But congratulations on Sunday's big win.
Not to stir up bad thoughts for you guys, but how in the world did the Crusaders lose to Toledo? It just doesn't make any sense.

It just doesn't make any sense. I honestly ask myself that question almost every single day! Seriously, that's not a joke. Every time I think about Valpo Basketball I think about that game and I still don't get how it happened. I've probably looked at the boxscore 20 times trying to find out where we lost that game, still haven't found a straightforward answer.

I would argue that rebounding (or lack thereof) lost this game for us combined with a poor shooting night. Allowing 17 ORebs for 19 points while shooting 10 of 19 from the free throw line and 8 of 27 from three is a pretty lethal combination.
