Looking at the stats year to date, there are a few very solid results. Brandon's overall play, inspite of not shooting as well as we expect, Howard's leading the team in 3%, and Kevin's 6.1 ppg in only 14 mpg, jump out. The surprising numbers (not sure why I'm surprised) for only a sophomore, come from Rowdy. He is 2nd in FG%, 2nd in 3's made %, 1st in FT% (94.1), 3rd in ppg, 2nd in Assts/TO ratio, 2nd in rpg, and a BIG 1st in blocks, with 18!!, which represents 1/2 of our total blocks!! We simply need to get him the ball and keep him in the game. We now have four guys in double figures so scoring balance in not an issue. What is so important is consistency and Rowdy represnts this aspect better than anyone! GO ROWDY!!

There is a nice level of depth on this team, perhaps too much at times (although as the season wears on, it is a valuable issue). It would be nice for Rowdy to get a few more touches...good things occur when he is involved in the offense. As I see it, there is no overwhelming "go to" player on this team. Someone who just takes over. Not a bad issue to have. The team offensive chemistry appears very good and the ball movement/shot selection is very good. Cory and Brandon are solid offensive players, perhaps a bit more than "solid". Rowdy is an all around player with good ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and shot blocking skills. He matches up well as a "4" in the HL with skills to move to the "3" if needed. He might be the key player, along with Big Dutchman on this team. If these two take a huge step forward, this could be a very good year. A little two man game with these two (BD on the blocks and Rowdy parked on the 3pt line) could be offensively potent. lowposter

shot selection has improved from the start of the season, but i don't know that i'd call it very good. but rowdy's the only one consistently hitting 3s it seems. he's been very impressive in all aspects of the game this year, and he could be great for vu before he graduates.

I would really like to see some plays where screens are set for Rowdy, so he can get open three point shots .

I would really like to see some plays where screens are set for Rowdy, so he can get open three point shots . I would like to see good, fundamental screens set where the screener is right up on the defender, not three steps away, waiting at a spot on the court, where it could become a moving pick, even if its only a shoulder that moves. It doesn't matter if those fundamental screens are for Rowdy, Wood, Johnson, or whomever, just as long as they are fundamental screens.

Howard's leading the team in 3% Interesting - I had missed this exactly. I would have said it was Rowdy. Howard's not taken nearly as many shots, he's just 8 for 18 from beyond-the-arc. But, still, respectable numbers. And, he did have a pretty good three-point-shooting season his sophomore year (39 of 96 for 40.6%). Interesting to see Harris' numbers improve, for two games straight. After starting 6 for 28, he's a combined 5 for10 in the last two games. Hopefully a sign of good things to come. It will be interesting to see what the team does with their three point shooting. I guess they have to keep taking some to stretch the defense at all. But, the numbers collectively continue to be pretty abysmal. Not sure what happened in the off-season...

I don't know how much anyone has noticed, but Ryan is controlling nearly every center jump at the beginning of the game, regardless of who he is going up against. He's got a great standing vertical and he's quick to the ball. I can't remember anyone that has consistently controlled the opening tip for us like that since Raitas - and he was a true 6-10.
