I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but not one of our players has ever been named POW in the 4 years we have been in this league. I'm quite certain we are the only school. Seems kind of strange that Shaun Huff, Urule Igbavboa, Jarod Loyd, Sam Haanpaa, Brandon McPherson, Brandon Wood, Cory Johnson, or Ryan Broekhoff were never deemed worthy - even once. I wonder who won the week that BW dumped 39 on North Carolina. Or, who won the week that Sam tied the school record with 10 3-pointers. Maybe those were the weeks that Robo Kreps or Big Lumber won the honor. Or maybe one of our guys came in 2nd to someone who had a truly spectacular week, like McCallum did earlier this season when he scored 30+ in games against 2 of the worst teams in NCAA basketball - Eastern and Western Michigan. By the way, they lost to Western and beat Eastern by 3 (in O.T. as I recall). Oh well, maybe one of these years. Thinking about it, it would really be cool if it came the same year we open the conference season at home for the first time.

_Never_? Are you sure? I would have bet a small amount of money that Haanpaa made it the week he hit, what was it, 10 3's in a game? Or was it only 7? Anyhow, that even got him Whelliston's MMBOW!
I might have thought Huff as well.
It's easier for me to believe that we never got it last year, e.g. that Wood and Johnson missed out.

Haanpaa for December 17, 2007 and Shawn Huff for March 3, 2008. No POTW winners for '08-'09 or '09-'10 seasons.

Well let's see - BW averaged 28 ppg in the 2 tournament wins, shot 19-31 from the field (61%), was 5-9 from 3 (63%), and 13-16 FT's (81%). And, both performances were on the road. Cory averaged 22.5 ppg, shot 15-22 from the field (68%), was 3-4 from 3 (75%), and 12-14 FT's (86%). He was also named MVP of the tournament, although I'm shocked that BW didn't get it with the amazing numbers he put up. Maybe we're actually going to have our first POW since 07-08...

A fair shot, I suspect. Unless Butler runs the table in Hawaii, and beats Baylor.

A fair shot, I suspect. Unless Butler runs the table in Hawaii, and beats Baylor. Butler did run the table, but didn't beat Baylor (they went 1-2 to claim 4th place). Howard grabbed tourney MVP with 18.7 ppg and 8.7 rpg and Mack was all-tourney with 16.7 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 3.3 apg. My guess is that Wood grabs PTOW honors, especially since Howard got it last week. We'll know tomorrow.

Hmm.. three wins for Butler, two for Valpo. Two of Butlers against better opposition than Valpo faced. ESPNU and ESPN2 for Butler.
I wouldn't put it past them to give it to Howard again. Or, yeah, it could easily go to Wood. Or Johnson. Or Mack.

OK - fair enough! I was wondering if, e.g. Wood and Johnson could share. Apparently, sharing is possible!
Congrats to Brandon, and the whole Wood family! The drought ends - finally.
