Milwaukee is up by 19 with 11:30 to go in the game. They are completely dominating Butler.

Milw. has increased their lead to 23 with 8 min. left. Butler looks totally lost out there.

Color me stunned.
Fairly or not, this one game rewrites all perceptions. That said, Milwaukee is just plain hot right now. Memo to Ryan Broekhoff: take that shot when they give it to you. Playing lock-down defense helps too, of course.
It could be "live by the 3, die by the 3" but Hill had his way in the paint too. I can only guess that the bus ride home to Indy might be as grim as that bus ride Valpo took from West Lafayette to Columbia, Missouri about 8 years ago.
Not sure, but was this one of those games where Matt Howard simply committed a few stupid fouls (as opposed to a concerted effort to get him into foul trouble)?

Butler always struggles at Milwaukee ... the Panthers controlled from the opening tip. Won't be a long bus ride, but will be the longest 45 minute charter flight on record. IMO, Milwaukee got the favorable end of the whistle, but it really didn't make a difference. Milwaukee was clearly the better team tonight ... I'd just like an explanation why they don't play like that all the time.

I forgot you guys are the most southern school in the conference and Milwaukee is the most northern (except perhaps for Green Bay). I think VU takes a bus every time, but we're a little more centrally located. In December of 2002, Valpo looked lifeless at Mackey Arena. We heard later that for much of the bus trip to Columbia for our game against Missouri, you could slice the air with a knife (and except for the coach, you could hear a pin drop it was so quiet). Scott Drew was not a happy camper and by the time the team arrived in Missouri, neither was the team.

Scott Drew was not a happy camper and by the time the team arrived in Missouri, neither was the team. I was on that bus trip and it was worse than you imagine. Scott went through the tape, frame by frame and didn't spare anyone...we got nothing to eat, and nothing to drink for the entire ride...and didn't stop anywhere even for a potty break. It was gruesome...we played a heck of a game against Missouri the next night....as far as Butler/Milwaukee, this is a prime example why i don't get as worked up as some by losses...things happen in college basketball...Butler is getting ready for Cleveland State and this was a CLASSIC trap game coming off the Hawaii tournament and the Valpo game. The conference is wide open.....

If Cleveland State goes into Hinkle and beats Butler when Butler is clearly going to be very motivated to win after todays debacle, I could see CSU not losing again until the tournament.

It is clearly not a crazy notion at this point that the HL tournament might be at the Wolstein Center this year, but then I thought this before Christmas. Not even close to crazy.

"I don't believe what I just saw. I don't believe what I just saw." You know, Zville's right. I really thought Milwaukee had a chance (maybe even a good one) in this game, but never in a million years did I see this coming. The team, like Detroit, has several talented pieces and has had six players score at least 16 points in a game this season. But it has never completely jelled. Part of that has been the erratic play of point guard Kaylon Williams, the transfer from Evansville. In the second half of the win at Detroit on Saturday, he seemed to figure something out and has suddenly become a lethal 3-point shooter. Tonight, he was the first player at the school since 1993 to post a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. His emergence and the renaissance of Anthony Hill, perennial Butler killer, after a six-game sabbatical paved the way for an almost-flawless performance tonight. I'm still amazed. Now I go back to cheering for Butler until late January.
