Looking to go sledding soon. Haven't been before around here. Does anyone know any good spots in NWI besides Forest Park in Valpo? Thanks!

Seems to me, (and it was a LONG time ago) that we had some fun over at the Valpo Country Club. Maybe they won't let you on but just an idea and probably a bad one!

grab some trays (or tubes) and try out the hill across the street from the back of mueller. if you play it right, you can fly down almost to linwood. some friends and i a couple years ago were also out by the retention basin behind the library and some facilities guy tossed us a can of some kind of non-stick spray (don't know what for), and that made things highly entertaining.

What about the dunes?

it's a little far from town, but i've heard that mt baldy used to be quite fantastic for sledding. but there are some decent hills at chesterton beach. i guess the biggest drawback though would be how close the hills are to the water, and that's asking for problems if you get going too fast.

my parents talked about doing it when they were there 30 years ago. but i never wanted to go that far to go sledding. and i don't know if they still allow it or not.

you can't do it at the dunes anymore. they banned it beginning either last year or this year. too many people were making it out on the lake.

I'm pretty sure they have sledding at Lakewood Park, on the northwest side which used to be called Derby Downs.

Lakewood Park was always my spot of choice.
